I realise this could be a ' how long is a piece of string' question, but my horse has a warm, swollen hock. I had the vet out today and they feel that it is not infection or a kerb, but an injury- soft tissue. So they have advised cold hosing twice a day and some bute. Horse also had an anti inflammatory injected. So I cold hosed for ten minutes and I've got to start bute tomorrow. But how long before I see a reduction in the swelling?

You need to cold hose at least four times a day for it really to be effective .
It's impossible to say how long but as the vets treatment is pretty conservative I assume they think it's a minor injury so if you don't see good improvement within three days I would be ringing the vet again .
