my horse started veterinary treatment for ulcers a week ago.
When should I start seeing a difference?
His only symptoms are extreme lethargy with the reluctance to move faster than a walk ?

Each horse varies I’m afraid. Mine took months and months of experimenting. ?
If you get the right treatment they should improve within a few days.
I’ve not heard of Cytotec, is that for foregut? I know Imoprazole can take a few weeks. With mine it made him worse.

I think you need to give it longer than a week but you need to be careful that the drug is not actually irritating the hind gut, which is what Omeprazole does.
Sucralfate worked quite well with mine as did Ron Fields powder and then lately mint and physllium.

Cytotec is a prostaglandin that encourages gastric emptying and the growth of the mucosa. It took 6 weeks for my horses ulcers to go amd 3 months to see a proper improvement.
