to get to know your horse well enough to feel happy and confident with ?
ive had earl now since last july and i feel i know him quite well now and im happy to do almost anything with him and trust him with others

For me it was almost straightaway like a week or two for jumping, I had never jumped a horse so honest (has refused roughly 5 times in 3 years) and has never experienced a horse that made jumping feel so easy!

Flatwork it took about 3 months for us to really gel and me to understand his litttle quirks.

Hacking it took me over a year to be happy and confident to hack him and that was when I changed his bit before that I was petrified of him!
 
1 year. We really did not get on for ages. But the last 6 months, I've got myself together and we have been having so much fun.

it's hard to say with my boy... I know almost certainly how he'll respond to most things, and that he will be a perfect gentlemen when no-one's looking, but the second we're in company, he'll turn into a little monster and fart around

About 18 months, I had never owned a mare before, so she took a lot of getting used to and is very quirky, now i trust her with my life and she does me too.
I love her to biiiitttsss.

I'd say about 2 years for me and coco, he was my first horse, we were his first proper owners (as in before he'd been at the dealers yard n left in an irish field) and I didn't trust him or know how he'd react to different things when we first got him, tbh I was scared of him, he was a unschooled baby who bucked and spooked and couldn't jump! Now I know exactly how he'll react to basically anything and he trusts me - he'll follow me on to a lorry when he wouldn't move for our y/o, he stops and waits for me if I fall off and he lets me walk under his tummy

Difficult one as I backed Bodes myself (with help) however I felt we had a very strong bond from the beginning, and even though I was nervous when we first started backing him, I instantly felt confident on him. Now a year later I feel I can pretty much do anything on him (within reason).
 
i'd say 1 year at first, then henry went to a yard where someone trained him through the week and i rode him 2 times a week so i started to drift from him. Now we are best friends and I can tell him everything without him going and telling every1 else

Mind u he always surprises me and thinks of new challenging things to do to check i'm still there!!
 
Well with Donnegan, who I love to bits but wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him

I'm confident around him and he gives fair warning before he's gonna misbehave most of the time

I trust him but not sure he has 100% trust in me just yet but I think that takes time
