How long do the effects of Domosedan last?

Have to sedate two for the dentist tomorrow. I've gathered that it takes 30-40 mins for the full effects to kick in, but how long does the horse stay fully sedated and how long does it take to wear off (or at least get to the stage where they can safely go back in the field)?
Thanks in advance!

Until I touched the legs of one with the clippers!

I think you are supposed to withhold food for 2 hours after sedation in case of choke. No doubt by the time they've both been done they will be getting there. Make sure you follow the instructions carefully.

Just make sure you get it under the tongue and not down the throat like you do with a wormer. Fortunately only one of mine needs it for the dentist so we usually put the gag on him when she arrives and so that we can be sure to get it under his tongue. A couple of the horses will be done and then he gets done when it has taken full effect. By the time the others are done (nine in total) he is usually reasonably awake.

Thanks everyone. I now *love* Domosedan, despite the price. Three year old had caps removed and a rasp and was brilliant, older horse who is really scared of the dentist (not my dentist's fault - some unknown past trauma!) had his rasp with minimal fuss.
And breathe out....
