How long do you all take to do your yard?!

...as the title really. I've got five to do, all on shavings. I step the muckheap, sweep, scrub and fill two buckets each and fill nets. I'm pretty quick as I do it every day but I've got a Saturday girl starting and would like to know I'm being in fair in how long I expect her to do the yard!
Thanks for any replies, Im hoping to keep her as long as possible!
 
So five horses? Including general cleaning down, but not turn out?

For me I'd say that would be around 2-3 hours: but it differs depending on how well the job is done and how used to doing it you are.
 
I have five to do too...
Give 2 hard feed
Change 2 into turn outs
Empty haylage into piles in field
Turn 5 out one by one due to muddy slope and silly behaviour
2 nets each
1 water bucket each
Skip out deep litter shavings beds
Sweep yard
Step muck heap
Re-cover hay and haylage with tarpaulin
Prepare evening feeds and put in stable

My best time so far is 40mins, however the beds had been given new shavings the day before so super easy skip out and it was light and much less muddy, plus I want feeding haylage In field.

I guess now, in the dark, with the mud, and not going hell for leather I could do it in an hour. I do like to take a bit longer if I'm not working though!
 
I reckon 2 hours - I tend to work at 15 minutes per stable including waters and adding fresh bedding if needed (waters are filling as I muck out). That then leaves 45 mins to sweep, step the muck heap and do haynets which should be ample time
 
At work, I had 10 that needed at least something doing.

Feed 10
Turn out 8 bring in 1 (inc. rug changes and washing legs)
Hay for 2
Muck out 5 large straw beds (inc. re-straw)
scrub all bowls
Make 20 feeds
Do 10-13 haynets
Sweep yard and outside

That would take me from about 7:30 until about 12:30, sometimes I had to ride or lecture in that time too.
 
I do three every dsy.

Turning out and rug changes take 25 mins due to how far away the field is.

Record for mucking out is 21 mins then sweeping and waters take another 5 mins.

All done within an hour before work
 
40 minutes!! That's unreal! Owner turns out as in the week I feed at 7 and they're out by 8 and they can be a touch sharp once they've gotten impatient and cannot find anyone to start before 8.30 or brave enough to deal with them when wound up lol.
Okay, so I reckon two hours is fair. Is it unfair to say we'll pay you for two hours but if it takes you longer, it takes you longer? No one likes to hurry on a Sunday...

start at 7 am finish at 9.30 am 8 at the moment to muck out water turn out feed for the evening and hay

start with


feeding all
change rugs for those who need changing
turn out all
then do cats
muck out - water- evening hay- evening feed for each and every one
I finish each stable having done everything for each before i move on to the next

My two take me just over an hour to do including turning them out. They have automatic water drinkers so I just have to muck out, bed down (straw bedding) and hay them. I'm not particularly rushing either or else I could probably be quicker.

At work, I tend to muck out about 4/5 per hour (they have automatic water and we hay them all together before or after so it doesnt include this either) and we have about 34 to do between 3 of us which takes us roughly three hours when it includes putting them on/off the horse walker etc.
 
I have 4 to feed & turn out, 2 to muck out, put in hay & water for same 2 & tidy muck heap, plus make up feeds for evening & next morning for my 2.
Takes me 24 - 26 mins most mornings to do the above, tho haynets are pre-filled by me at weekend so just need changing over for the empty ones :)

Can take a little longer if I have to change a rug or 2. (tho the 2 tinies dont wear rugs)
 
We've got to do 15 between 2 of us...
14 Feeds
14 Full Muck-outs (Shavings), night nets & feed bowls removed.
14 Waters emptied, scrubbed out and refilled.
14 Haylage Nets made and tied up.
14 Barrows of muck shovelled onto the trailer.
1 Barrow of hay taken to field kept horse
3 Very Large Yards Brushed completely Spotless.
4 Sets of Stable Bandages removed.
8 Rugs changed.
Indoor Turnout Mucked out & tidied.

That takes us 1 and a half hours, and on a very busy yard has to be done to schedule! Hard work but I don't know how to go any slower anymore!!
 
1 hr to pick feet out, turnout individually (generally I don't change rugs unless change in temp), fully muck out 2 on shavings, fill waters and haynets (inc 1 soaked), sweep yard, wash feed buckets, make feeds, empty wheelbarrow, skip out 6 chickens, collect eggs.
 
I take my hat off to you! That's impressive.
It generally takes me 2 hours 45 mins to feed five in, pick out feet and lift rugs of five in the field, rug up, check feet and turn out the five stabled, then muck out, sweep the yard and all that..although there's usually a cuppa and slice of toast in there somewhere ;) I have to get muckd out first thing, otherwise I've exercised everything, take a break and never get going again. If I exercise in the afternoons it's full steam ahead.
 
When I used to work with horses, to do 14 horses: muck out, make and give feeds, fill haynets, fill waters Would take me about 2 hours so I think 2 hours to do 5 and tidy yard would be more than enough: )
 
I only have one to do. On average to muck out, fork up muck heap, get fresh straw, fill one big Haynet and two little ones, make up 2 feeds, fill water, put barrows etc away it takes me half an hour.

I think 2 to 3 hours to do 5 would be fair.
 
Round here you can add an extra hour, and a bad back, on to the regular jobs when they've decided to use the yard to pen the sheep thereby leaving it two inches deep in mud and slurry. Aaarrggghhhhh.......
 
I can do 2 stables (muck out, fork up heap, bed down, sweep, water, nets) in 20 odd minutes when I'm pushed for time. However mine are on rubber matting with a mix of shavings and pro bed and are very clean, one never pees inside. I multi task, i.e. put tap on slowly and fill buckets while I'm stuffing nets. However I have bed related OCD and if I have an hour to spend on a single bed I'll spend it and it'll be gloriously immaculate!
 
I'm really slow. One horse in shavings. I take about 40 mins in the week. Doing a quick muck out. It's about 10 mins to get.to and from field. But today it took me about an hour and a half and I've not put the back down or made haynets etc. Literally just a good muck out
 
I have four on straw and it takes me between 90 mins and two hours to muck out, bed down and stuff haynets. They have automatic waterers. Most of my time is taken up walking back and forth to the muck heap as I usually get two barrows out per stable (in 4pm until 7.30am). I average around 3 miles for a daily muck out.
 
I have one 😋 ... 40 mins in morning, inc turning another out.

Can be as quick as 20 mins at night but depends if riding etc, normally 2 hours.
 
When I had two, it took me an hour and a half. Now I have only one, it takes me... An hour and a half :D

I do have two others to feed - not that that takes much time but I guess I just enjoy not rushing. Feeds are mixed with warm water in the morning when it's cold, I brush my horse before rugging and turning out. Hooves are picked out and oiled. I do a full muck out - poo, wet, leftover hay - the lot - I have clean white shavings for my bed - all brushed back neatly. Muck is treaded down on the trailer, outside my stable and feed room is swept. I have no reason to rush so I dont :D
