How long do you give your horse off?

Took Lil SJing on Sunday, jumped beautifully but then was slightly lame on her left fore when trotted up on Monday. No heat or swelling at any time.

She looked completely sound last night, we trotted her up on the yard and she was fine. Put her back out in her field was doing a beautiful extended trot round it going "Look at Me! I'm pretty"

How long would you give her off? Assuming that she's still fine when I fetch her in tonight would it be unreasonable to see if she feels up to a gentle walk and trot round in the school for a short session tonight?

She can have as long as she needs off but I'm wondering if maybe it was just a bruised sole? Could have trod on something jumping or could have caught her when cleaning stud holes.

As long as she is still ok I wouldn't see the problem with doing a short session tonight and then if all still ok returning to normal work tomorrow

I usually give them an extra day when they come sound, just to make sure. When I twisted my ankle, I was sound for easy walking very quickly but strenuous work would have made me lame again haha ... Perhaps walk in hand instead?

Thanks, that was kind of what I was thinking but didn't want to be too hasty.

Walking in hand not a good idea! She's basically very docile but wouldn't want her to spin and gallop for home if a horse eating sparrow appeared in the hedge. I like to be sat on top to have the control!

Will give her a gentle ridden walk and see how she goes.
