How long do you leave your rugs on for???

I think OP had a sharer but the YO had a go at her so she didn't want to share any more.

Hope I've got that right OP..

Yes that's exactly right, and I do know I need to move but it's just finding that yard. I really don't think I'd be happy with moving him much further away, it's a struggle as it is with my varied shift work and I often work 60hrs pw.
Maybe I'm being a bit fussy with the changing of rugs. All his rugs are horseware or bucas so he should be fine. I'm thinking I might just do a very low chaser or neck and belly and leave him unrugged. He is indoors for 5 days anyway.
There was no set agreement in a contract format, it was just a general "agree to pay on time, will give a weeks notice" etc etc. The livery services were agreed verbally but it appears this year even that isn't available on a regular basis.
I'd be perfectly happy to pay a freelance but it's not allowed!! You know when I actually see my answers to your questions in print I can't believe that people (myself included) put up with it!!!

I can understand the YO not wanting a freelancer in to cover duties but if the YO is not prepared to do the job properly, leaving a damaged rug on any horse is totally unacceptable, then they are being unfair and unrealistic.
I have been taking rugs off and putting them back on for my liveries recently without being asked and with no charge because the weather has been unusually warm I am not happy leaving a sweating horse until the owner gets here and cannot see why the OP's YO cannot do a simple task such as taking off or putting on a rug it is only a minute or two if they are left out ready.

Leave unrugged till you clip, my natives are clipped with MW rugs on. They don't hav rugs on till they are clipped. Otherwise leave unrugged and unclipped.

Mine are in at night now so I change them in in the morning when they go out and back again when they come in. My mare wears the same rug in the field as in the stable at the moment. The rug doesn't come off her everyday, but every few days it comes off so I can groom her or at least reapply it to prevent rug rubs.
