How long do you like to see a horse's tail?

I wrap it around the hock and cut where it hits the end (does that make sense) ...so 3 inches below hock...think same as JM?

I have a welsh section D and i keep her tail long.

I don't tend to look at it much, just before winter it was just touching the floor, so i cut it to fetlock height to keep the ends out of the mud.

I wouldn't personally take any more off a native, i don't think its too bad having shorter tails for ridden native class's, but i think its important to have a long naturel tail for in hand showing for natives.

In light of our discussion this morning, I got a bit scissor-happy this afternoon

Much too short for my liking; I can hardly moan about what my instructor did, for I've just gone and done the same thing!

On the plus side, the eight inch length I cut off (sob) was very straggly and sparse, whereas although her tail is now short, it looks a lot thicker....

My mum is now very cross with me!

Depends on the type. Natives & traditional cobs - full & to the floor!

T's reaches the ground and looks lush. But that would look odd on a trimmed, pulled and clipped type, when it should be to the hocks.
