How long do your horses get 'out' each day in winter?

I put out in the day but in at night but in reality it depends on the weather. If it dries up (like it did last year) they will be back out 24/7 - sadly on heavy clay soil their arrangements are rain/ mud dependent - if I want any grazing left by the spring.
But turn out at 7am and back in again at 6pm isn't too bad for them (I hope)

After abit of experimenting with different routines for one reason or another my 3 have all voted out 24/7! The TB gets especially stressy when in and colicked because of it and the haffie and welshie dont really 'get' stables. Very very lucky to have just acquired an extra 4.5 acres of really good winter grazing next to our existing fields which are trashed so we are all very happy :)

He was out 24|7 last year but as of this month is now out from 7.30am to 6pm and in at nights. He is waiting for me at the gate and loves his stable at night so that's the way it'll be this winter!

The yard I have just moved to have built a track round the outside of the paddocks, which will be our winter turnout. It was finished on Saturday, and first impressions are great. Alf's far more mobile on it - marches round it very purposefully, and comes charging round to the gates when I whistle.

Ours go out at 6-7 am and come in at 5-6 pm.

I wanted them to stay living out this winter (they've lived out all summer) but we just don't have enough grass - our fields would Just be mud pits if they stayed out.

Mine varies from day to day - today all the mares were out all day as the weather was great and none of them were fidgeting to come in until 5pm. But in awful weather sometimes they just go out while I'm mucking out and sometimes I will get them in at dinnertime. It's weather dependent really as the TB stands at the gate to come in if the weather gets too bad!

They're out in fields all day (6am - 8pm) during winter. In horrible, horrible weather they usually come in at about 6ish as they're waiting by the gate at around 3. But I don't get back until 6 so they will have to put up with their shelters until I come home! x

The Spanish chap & the ex-racer both live out 24/7. They do have stables but as soon as they are in they want to be out (like cats really!) both have snuggyhoods good rugs & plenty to eat. They are two of the most chilled horses I know! If stabled the Spaniard hides at the back & the tb chews the doors, box walks & shouts at anyone who goes past!

Four out of five of mine are out 24/7 unrugged until the wet weather starts at the end of this week, then they'll have L/Ws on. (apart from *****land)
My other boy will has had his L/W on for 2 weeks and comes in at night..

Once we get into winter we start off with half day turnout 7 days a week, then that goes down to half day, 4 days a week. All horses at our yard seem quite happy with that.
