As title really, want to grow cobs pulled tail out over winter. Have got no more shows or events planned so can leave him scruffy for a while just wondered how long it would take?

Well my mare took the whole 5 years I had her to look really nice. It had just got to the stage where I could carefully trim the edges with a tail rake.

YEARS!! Don't try the grow out unless you are planning on not showing/hunting/competing for at least 2 years due to the bog brush effect.

OP rubbed the top of his glorious tail out approx 5 years ago, and in my horror at the spikey mess I decided to pull it. After leaving it to grow out for 3 1/2 years I now have a full tail which is fully plait-able, although the stages to get here were horrendous.

If you do pursue it, it is much easier if you have actually 'pulled' the tail rather than bladed/shredded/raked etc as the hairs are growing through rather artistically chopped!

Good luck :)
