Do you mean before school/work in they have been in overnight?
In total it takes me about 30mins
5 mins to walk there, 5 mins to walk back
Mine takes ages eating his breckie so by the time he has finished eating I have mucked out! (hes on deep litter shavings)
Quickly change over rugs and out of his stable
I do my friends horse aswell as we alternate who goes up in the morning.
However now ive finished college if he was staying in (though hes out 24/7) I would ride 1st so would obviously take me longer)
Ive got two horses on DIY - I get up at 6am, get to the yard by 6:15, generally one is out for the day and one is in for the day so i muck one out/feed and then turn the other out. But tomoro my farrier is coming so i have to muck both out in the morning as they stay in and he just does them without me being there as i work full time.
I get home no later than 7am every morning - even when i have 2 to muck out.
About 30 minutes to do all three of mine, including filling water and haynets. They are 50 feet from my back door! On rubber matting, ( two are very clean and takes about 5 mins each)
Prob about 3 mins. They live out, at home. I check that everyone is alive & well, put hard feed in their buckets which hang on the fence, put out 2 sections of hay & dash off for the train. The other day I was up the field in my knickers & coat cos I was planning to wear a long skirt & didn't want to get it muddy. No time to be posh & get changed.
I ride, do feet, fill up trough etc when I get home.
Boy am I slow, 1.5hrs door to door getting up at 5.30am. I only do him in the morning twice a week (he's on part livery) as I have to work till 8pm so don't go up in the evening. In that time 20mins is getting there and back, the rest is mucking out (he's very wet and dirty!), 15mins lunging, haynets and making up feeds, picking out feet and a quick groom if I've got time.
At this time of year, when they are living out, it takes me about 30-40 mins door to door.
10 mins to get there
10-20 mins mixing up feeds for the two big boys, carrying feeds accross to field, hay for the pony, check legs, change rugs if necessary, give them a quick cuddle.
10 mins drive home.
In the winter:
10 mins there
5 mins mix up and feed
15 mins - muck out one stable
10 mins - muck out other stable (he's cleaner)
10 mins - turning out
10 mins home
So, about an hour in the winter.
That's just the pre-work routine! On non-work days, it would include riding two horses, which would take me until lunchtime.
