How long does it take yours to get through a large round?

My neds all live out... They're 15hh, 14.2 and 9.2hh!! and I had a large round delivered yesterday, equivalent to 12 smalls because of the forecast snow. I went up there this morning and they'd demolished it! There's probably at least half left, but seriously, do yours get through hay that fast??

We tried this once (we don't have a feeder but thought we'd just try and see what happened)... took them maybe 2 days to completely destroy it. Worked out to be a real waste. I love the idea in principal but feeder is definitely required I think!

Always worth checking the weight of round bales over a weighbridge.A round baler can be wound back to give very light bales though since they are too heavy to move by hand easily, you will be unlikely to notice (unless you are in the hay business)A local cowboy hay dealer and "farmer" sells round bales of rubbish hay which contain no more than the eqivalent of 8 standard bales>It is amazing how many people he conns with this stuff.AND THEY THINK ITS CHEAP.The Heeston and mini Heestons are a diferent matter ,it is a lot harder to alter the weight.Probably the only way is to make them shorter than the standard 8 ft.

Mine are equivalent to 12 bales. It took them a week in the end to get through it, I think they just had a lot of fun spreading it about and gorging themselves before they slowed down.

It took two of them to roll it across the field to the place I wanted it but we got there and they were sweating by the time the wrap came off it :)
