How long does Regumate take to 'work'?

As above. Orla is on day 9 of her first lot of Regumate, intending to keep her on it until winter. Before being prescribed, her 2nd scan showed her right ovary was still huge (vet still thinks that it is full of blood but is testing for inhibin levels too to rule out a tumour). Her behaviour since starting it has been very good, no grumpiness, no sensitivity to grooming & brilliant to ride. However, 2 days ago I saw her squirting at the boys & am a bit confused as I thought Regumate stopped this? Also she was super spooky again last night whilst hacking & this morning seems a bit out of sorts & was turning & staring at her right flank... :(
Do you think the Regumate isn't working? Any thoughts appreciated.

Mmmmmm ... is it the right ovary that's huge - or a follicle? Is your vet a repro specialist? An enlarged ovary suggests a tumour - talk about 'full of blood' suggests a haemorrhagic follicle (which Regumate won't fix.)

WHY has he prescribed Regumate? Is it for behavioural difficulties when she's in season?

After 9 days on Regumate she shouldn't be coming into season - but squirting at boys does not necessarily mean a mare IS in season!

this morning seems a bit out of sorts & was turning & staring at her right flank...

Was it her right ovary that was - allegedly - enlarged?

Thanks for your reply Janet! :) Sorry for my ignorance, I thought the squirting meant she was in season!!
Yes it was her right ovary that was enlarged & the vet said it was her actual ovary rather than a follicle on her ovary. First scan showed it being huge & very sore & her behaviour got steadily worse over the next 6 days (literally couldn't get near her without her trying to bite or kick me, couldn't groom her anywhere, looked very sorry). Then on day 7 she was suddenly back to her usual self & I could touch her all over! Even rode her for the next 2 days. I thought she must have come into season as there was definitely a relief. She then became a bit 'touchy' on her left side! :( Vet came back to scan & saw that her right ovary was still big but may have gone down a little (but was no longer painful) but that left ovary now had a 2.5cm follicle on it! He has prescribed regumate as this behaviour pattern is fairly consistent with her - has a really brilliant speedy week where she is bold & will jump well, then a few days of being completely sluggish, almost lame behind & looking at her right flank whilst on board, then she is fairly unpredictable, stamps her front feet, swishes her tail, won't listen & throws superb bucks from nowhere!! ;)
Not sure about how much of an expert my vet is but he worked in Oz & NZ doing repro work.
What do you think? I feel for her as I believe she is really in pain/very uncomfortable for at least a week out of every 3.
