For those who have grown out a hogged mane, how long did it take for it to 'flop over'!!?

Is there anything I can do to speed up the process?

My horse was last hogged about 2 months ago and is looking like a punk!

When we bred from our cob, we let he go Au Naturelle and I would say it took 4 months, though parts of it still stood up for a little bit longer. I don't think you can do much to make it grow faster, but I always slicked it down on one side before doing up the neck of her combo rugs :p

Its taken seven months for one of mine. He was hogged due to sweet itch and now his mane is long enough to plait. I dont think there is anything to speed the growth up. Just keep dampening it down on the side you want it to grow.

Thanks everyone. He is unrugged at the minute so won't be able to put a lycra hood on him. I think I will just have to wait a couple more months and wet/plait it down as suggested!

Get quic braid spray and after washing then spray at all the roots when wet and comb down and it will help

I tried growing out my cob's mane and I swear it was over 5 inches straight up from his neck when I finally surrendered and re-hogged. I did consider dyeing it bright blue and passing him off as a punk, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

Oh god I hope his flops over before it gets to 5 inches!!

Yes I have thought about dying it red a few times so he looks like a roman soldier... :D
