How long for a mane to grow back?

Following Tara chewing Blue's mane off yesterday I was wondering how long it will take to grow back? It was about 15 inches long and being a Fell Pony it should be long and flowing. I was wanting to show him next year, but am already worrying that it won't grow back in time

Looks like Blue's showing career will be over before it has begun. His sire has a stunning mane, must be a good 2 foot long, looks like it will be some time until Blue's gets like that

like people some horses grow quicker manes than others.
Regards the showing next year could you add a hair piece where it has been chewed? I have heard of this being done before, not sure what it entails or how good this is but might be worth a try

6mths for mine to grow his back from completely rubbed out to normal pulled length. would think 18mth-2yrs to get to full length.

Isn't there something called Megatek (or something like that), which speeds up growth?

Sorry to Hijack slightly here but Puss In Boots how did you get her mane so beautiful - My boys mane is about half the length but I am terrified of him losing it - Any suggestions?
