and is there anything i can do to help?

my horse has just finished 4 weeks box rest for pelvic injury, was supposed to be 8 but after reassesment from vet, decided he'd be better out in smallish paddock. he's still coming in at night and i have put him in a very grassy paddock to keep him occupied. he was sedated for first few days with sedaline but now he's not sedadted he goes nuts when i turn him out, proper nuts! he also gets very upset when its evening time and seems desperate to come in, he's also not the easiest to lead in and out at the moment. how long till he settles down? i'm worried he's going to do more damage or not heal propery

The answer to how long to get back to normal depends on the injury - and in the case of my mare on box rest for seven months what other injuries she did whilst coming back into work.

She boxwalks and weaves so had to be cross tied and then was in an area of turn out roughly the size of two stables so she couldn't really blow up. If you can do that immediately in front of your stable you may find he's calmer - you don't have to lead him there either:)

As for bringing back into work she was went onto ridden walking for one minute, increasing by one minute a day until she was walking for an hour. Then we started to introduce trot in tiny bursts, building up. She did not have a back injury though.
