just wondering if anyone has a horse who has lost all their mane.. how long did it take to grow back in to a respectable length again? Eg, so it falls over and is not up like a mowhawk:mad:

I have a pony who lost her mane before I bought her due to lice. Thankfully she didn’t dub her forelock or tail at all. she has been all treated and is clear now and Im working on the principle of health from the inside out - she gets micronised linseed, a good vitamin and mineral balancer and brewers yeast in purabeet. However since october I’m lucky if there is 1 inch of growth. Ive tried megatec before and found nothing happened (with a different pony who had a rug rub). I keep hoping it will suddenly spurt into action and grow!!

all I can recommend is keep the mane clean and silky so doe not get rubbed on neck covers and pony does not get itchy and rub it.

Keep the rugs off their necks, it is the warmth that allows hairs to fall out, much in the way its easier to pull horses hair after exercising and warm.

My horses main grows far too quickly! At least an inch and a half a month, so thick and he hates it being pulled!

Adding seaweed to the diet is supposed to work for humans, might be worth looking into. You can get it in tablet form.

Megatak did seem to work for mine. He rubbed one patch out. I only put the megatek on the patch and it did seem to grow faster than the rest of his mane.

My mare came to me at the end of August wearing the no mane look. She now has at least 3 inches of lovely, thick what's going to be wavy, Arab mane. Can't wait for it to be 10 inches long! I've rubbed coconut oil into the roots once a week and kept a neck cover off her rugs. Seems to be working for me.
