I started riding when I was 12, and got my first pony later that same year. I have always had a horse or worked with horses since then.
I'm now 39, so 28 years!!
40+ years and almost exactly (this month) 35 yrs since mum & dad bought sister and me our first horse to share. 8 yrs later we had to have him pts and had a break in owning for about 2 yrs when we did ride other people's horses. Then we got our next horse to share and less than a year later decided we NEEDED another one. We have shared them all since and the latest acquisition is the 11th. They all stay with us until the end of their lives, so we have had several retired horses as well as those we ride. I am intending to be riding until well into my 80s at least.
My mum bought a shetland when I was 6 months old, so I grew up with him. We had other ponies and horses, I'm 34 and still got horses. Can't even remember learning to ride.
