The really scary thing is that for 19 years of that I had weekly riding lessons, I dread to think of the money my parents and I have spent over the years..........
I am now 46. I was sat on a horse at 9 days old, and could ride (sort of) before I could walk. Won my first ribbon at 18 months in a gymkhana and was taken hunting when I was 4 as I could then gallop and hang on over small ditches and logs. I did have the most fantastic Dartmoor who really looked after me though.
My mum let me off the lead rein at 4 when hacking out but did put me one on the roads until I was 7 just in case.
"It's a passing phase..." - that was last week
"No, you're not having a riding hat, you'll give up soon" - after 5 years of riding
"How did you learn all this?!" watching me muck out/groom - well I've been doing it for 10 years now Mum!
"Are you ok Spud?" - after an unscheduled dismount resulting in whiplash
and the best was when I moved yards, and had paid for hay in advance - all 75 bales of it....
"WHY is there BALES OF HAY IN MY BLEEDING KITCHEN?!"
