Hi all - hope all your doggies and you selves are not getting blown away in this horrid wind !!

Can I pick your brains - 5 year old GR has developed a hematoma in one of her ears. It started very very small - almost like a pea - about a month ago. Straight to the vets who said it would probably re- adsorb on its own as it was so small. No change to it since then until Monday when, on early morning cuddletime whilst still in bed, it was considerably bigger. Back to the vet who says its my call - He thinks it will reabsorb but will take a while or he will drain it. Its bigger again today - its now reached right down to the bottom of the ear flap so I am just wondering whether to have it drained or to let nature take its course.

How long have you experienced it takes to go , would you drain it and do they burst at all ? Shes very active and it doesn't appear to give her any pain but I am very worried about her banging it and it splitting. Its not huge outwards if that makes sense but its long and flat.

Thanks all.

Only one experience (in a springer) and it was drained.............twice. Didn't come back a third time though.

There was another thread on here floating around for a while but I'm not particularly good at searching for old threads. I wouldn't hesitate to have another drained but there were a few differences of opinion :)

Thanks Deb - I will have a dig around - thank you :)

Only one experience too - after bitch being neutered. It eventually went down. Is there any heat to it? Strange that it would flare up after a month.
