How Long should I soak hay?

Some say overnight then drain & feed some say 3/4hrs it is purely to reduce any dust as boy has slight cough now put him on hay.

Your thoughts would be appreciated.
 
If it is just for dust 10 to 20 minutes is enough. That is how long I soak my old lads for and he is fine. In sayting that the hay I have is not very dusty anyway.
 
Thank You problem is the hay is real good and he loves it so after I soaked for 10+ hrs he turned his nose up at it. I will do for 20mins and I feel too that this is long enough. Thanks Again.

We soak hay for one of ours due to her coughing, 10-15 mins seems to do the trick nicely, so 20mins i would say is plenty :-)
 
We had a vet talk e couple of years ago and she said just do it till it's all wet and no more or you'll start taking the goodness out of it..
