On monday my horse had acute colic (we are thinking from eating all the leaves that had blown into the field after the gales we had on the Sunday). My mare is in foal, so was rather worried, but by the evening she had picked up. Yesterday she was ok, she still had dihorrea, but was alert, and was eating and drinking. Today she has been off her feed again and is not drinking. She looks alert, but has been laying down more than normal, and still has dihorrea. Is it normal for a horse to still be like this 48 hours after a colic attack????? Am debating wether to call the vet out (again!), but don't want to waste time and money if this is a normal part of recovery. Any ideas greatly appreciated.
