How long should Liverpool's Dr. Sarcoid take to get back to you?

I sent photos of my horses sarcoids to my vets almost 2 months ago now. They said they would forward on the pictures and get back in touch with me, but it has been almost 2 months now, seems like its taking a very long time...

I did ring about a month ago and she re-assured me they would be in touch.

I don't know if I'm being paranoid but long story short, I regaled my vets advice re. my other horse. He did nerve blocks and xrays and told me he thought his lameness was due to soft ligament damage / ddft damage and he recommended wedges / steroid injections.
I decided not to go down that route, and am (attempting) rehabilitating him barefoot.

I get the impression my vet dislikes the fact I have disagreed with him (he was VERY anti barefoot) and now can't be bothered with me now...

Some of you may or may not agree with me not following my vets advice, but at the end of the day that was my decision.

Does it usually take the Dr.[can't remember his name] 2 months to process the photos and prescribe treatment?
 
Usually he replies within 1 week but he does travel alot so sometimes takes 2 but never longer. He has definately been around in the last 2 months - your vets are having you on I'm afraid. If you have sent photo's and not paid for a consultation this may be the problem. Liverpool have recently started charging approx £14 for looking at the photos and providing a protocol so you will need to pay this. You should also expect to pay your vets usual consultation fee on top.

My vets at the time sent photos to proff Knottenberg aug 2010 and it took 3 months to get an answer although I suspect some of the delay was down to my vet. Then had another vet send photos oct 2011 and it took 6 weeks to get a reply, I had heard thru this forum that they can take an awful long time to get back to you.
 
My vets responded back to me very quickly and treatment started maybe 2/3 weeks after the initial photos went to my vet.

I do seem to remember reading somewhere that there can be a bit of a waiting list at certain times of year.

I I'd be moaning like crazy! Mine was quick and you really want the course to be finished by the height of fly season.
 
It took less than a fortnight for my vets to get back to me after I emailed them photos which they then sent up to Liverpool for Professor Knottenbelt to give an opinion on. The Professor had looked at the photos & called back with an opinion as well as agreeing to supply the cream if we wanted to go down that route (which we have). Total cost £24 - that was for my vets time as well as Professor Knottenbelts. Bargain I reckon.

I got sorted within 2 weeks from when the photos were taken and then a week for the cream to arrive. Bloody miraculous stuff - laddo had a fab result!
 
We were due to start BCG injections for a sarcoid next week, it has taken about 6 weeks from the initial consultation with our vet to getting the BCG drugs but the sarcoid grew so aggressively it ended up the size of a lychee hanging off her upper eyelid and she rubbed it off, Professor Sarcoid now says we should wait as sometimes when the horse does this the sarcoid doesn't grow back and even so, we will need to wait for there to be an actual lump there to inject the BCG into so now we are just playing a waiting game!

Apparently it took a bit longer because the BCG injections are quite hard to get hold of?
 
It was a few years ago when my tb had to go up to have sacoids treated but it was sorted out in days. The vets seemed to organise it though. She had to stay up there for a week but the cream was marvellous.
 
I waited 12 weeks for a response, two years ago... After a month when the sarcoid was growing bigger by the day I researched thoroughly and in the end I used advice from a well known homoeopathic equine vet. By the time I had a reply saying yes its a sarcoid and yes you need to use this cytotoxic cream, my horses sarcoid had been treated and had gone. Touchwood in two years they have never returned.
