How long has the snow scuppered your riding?...

what are you doing to keep yourself busy? I have been sledging all weekend and now have bruised buttocks coz I kept going over v painful frozen mole hills!!! nobody laugh!

suggestions to prevent me going stir crazy pls.....

sushi and a choc frijj to all fellow HHOers with riding withdrawal syndrome

no suggestions but it has been a week for me and about 8/9 days since I was able to get Styx out hacking on the roads (it is still far to icy here)

I have started planning my Spring BSJA shows to keep me occupied.
Have abandoned plans for winter indoors ones for the time being as there is no way I am taking my lorry out with the ponies in, as there are far too many abandoned cars and accidents going on still for my liking.

Although if it snows again tomorrow here I am toying with the idea of taking my snowboard in to next doors field which has a pretty decent slope

I had a lesson a week ago today.
Horses retain their fitness really well much better than humans so not too worried about it all as horse is still going out. At least they are nice and clean at the moment!

Kat you could have the 'spare' frijj which is currently on the passengers seat of my car, they are on BOGOF in Tescos get yourself down there!

6hrs ago ggggrrrrrrrr I'm not jealous not at all not even a bit

sledging yesterday there was a guy on a snowboard and he was having a mega time!

Managed to ride Saturday and yesterday, but didn't ride all of last week. Only managed to this weekend because we spent hours digging the arena out, only for it to snow on it again last night!! :-(

OOh, sounds tempting...

Honestly, its nothing to be jealous about, Madam was WILD

Although to be fair to her, after 2 days of work she has settled down to being a nice pony again

nine days ago. Im really p'd off. Cant even go to my trainer. He is snowed in and couldnt anyhow on these roads. Horse is not complaining, living the life of luxury. Did have a dressage test looming but thats totally out of the question. more snow coming mid week i think

Poor Mr FigJam has been having to deal with a very miserable FigJam! Twice as much of the hard work but none of the fun is not making me a happy bunny.

Signs of a thaw today though, so hoping it continues and I can either a) use school at yard soon or b) get drive cleared enough to get trailer out at the weekend and find an arena to ride in.

31st December, I jumped Mick and he was amazing. But, it seems like a lifetime ago since I rode. I just glad I finished on a good session. Hark at me, sound like I will never ride again..

This weekend husband joined me at a gym and apparently I have really strong core fitness, so thanks horsey. When I eventually get back riding Im going to use the gym once a week for pamper / relaxation time. Will be good to use the bike though to get fit for xc. mmm..

last time i rode was 2nd January - the horses then went to a show on the 3rd !! they normally only get a day holiday after a show but this is a bit silly now to have 7 days !!

Yesterday

I haven't let the snow stop me and have ridden most days, although I'm not riding today as it's going like slush and is sticking in their feet now

It's been like powder before so had no problems.

about 2 weeks now!! been keeping myself busy writing my uni essays but have finished those now too! luckily horses have been able to go out everyday though to keep them sane.

Yesterday! Thank god for the indoor school!!! Actually my horse has been schooled more than usual because he couldn't go out (so has to be exercised) and hacking out is impossible due to snow/ice.

Which beach? That is my plan for this weekend!

What were the conditions like?

That was Brean, I went last weekend too. As you can see, it was pretty icy, but fortunately the tide was fairly far in so ended up just riding in the sea, once I had persuaded Nemo that the sea wasn't going to eat him. I'll see you there!

Not ridden since 13th December and I have no idea when I will ride again. The snow is still a foot deep and we have hard frosts on top of that. I am back to uni on Friday which knowing me will be when the snow melts!!

Ok I will look at tide times and make a decision. I guess this is where I am so lucky as only 15 mins drive from me.

Rode Bog twice over weekend. Was expecting to be bucked off within 100 yards of leaving the yard but he was good as gold and far less spooky than usual.

He had 5 days off last week and I should think he'll have 5 days off this week too and exercised at the weekend. As soon as ice goes I can exercise every day round farm before work. Until then I refuse to ride on road in nearly light conditions - drivers round here are awful.
