My boy was kicked on the inside of his RF, right where the splint bone meets the cannon bone, the sunday before last. The horse that kicked him doesn't have shoes. He has been sound the whole time, there is/has been heat in it and it would swell slightly over night. However, it is still swelling slightly overnight and there is still some heat in it.
I've been cold hosing it and turning him out as usual (hes out with 2 old ponies that don't tend to get out of walk and when he comes in the swelling is gone).
He isn't fussed if you poke/press the area.
I have tried bandaging it over night too but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

I understand that bruising can take a while to clear up but as it seemed quite minor to start with I am a little worried that it is taking this long.

So after nearly 2 weeks is it normal for it to still swell over night with heat in it?

Honestly if it's still swollen I would be getting a vet to look at it. Even if you call the vet for advice first I would guarantee they would want to see it and check it thoroughly. If something is going on and it's left undiagnosed it could become so much worse than what it currently is.
