I have tried my usual go to on Google, but it is not being specific enough for me in this case. Horse was in a paddock and had red worm, horse has now left and the field is being 'rested' until safe to have other horses on. The Google answer appears to be 3-6 months which seems to be quite long. This is to break the lifecycle.
Does anybody have any experience or previously received recommendations on this?

Definitely graze with sheep if possible, they love the short grass after horses. Mine will usually choose to graze the ponies starvation areas rather than the longer grass and they do a great job of clearing up after horses. Not sure how well just resting it will work. Worm eggs can live a long time on grass.

Yes - but I left the livery yard with the problem!

I seem to remember the vet saying a period of really hot dry weather was needed to kill off the worms. They also suggested putting sheep on it instead of horses for a while.

At least it isn't tapeworm - a friend is battling that in her rented fields after the previous occupant thought worming was bad for her horses.
