How long would you wait until you started jumping again?

My horse has recovered from 7 months off work due to a hairline fracture of the pedal bone. I started riding her again at the end of september although she was being walked out before that. She is now completely 100% sound. About 6 weeks on she is now trotting happily in the school for lengthy periods of time interspersed with short breaks in walk and has started cantering in the last couple of weeks - at first just out hacking. Have had a few canters in the school now under instructors advice and she seems very happy in her work. I am not considering jumping probably until the end of december but just wondered how long other people would wait until they started popping over a few cross poles?

I think she sounds about ready to do some polework now in all honesty. Sounds as if you've done a great job getting her back to fitness!

I am definately planning on doing some polework in the next couple of weeks, just worried about actually jumping a fence!!! Probably sounds a bit stupid but I am so paranoid that she is going to go lame again!

Gosh, I've no idea. What does the vet suggest as I'd follow their advice if I were you.

Sounds like you've done a great job on rehabilitating her so far, so I can understand why you're anxious not to push her into jumping too soon.

Thanks, think I will speak to my vet for peace of mind. Really don't want to push her too hard too soon as I don't want her to go lame again and she will lose the enjoyment in her work as she did before when I kept pushing her. Just want to take things really slowly with her. Am really pleased with her progress so far though
