How long should it take a horse to lose weight at this time of year when in a large, fairly grassy field with a grazing muzzle on 24/7? She can eat ok with it on, it takes her a bit of time to pull some grass through the hole and she doesn't get much but she's probably eating about as much now as she would be, say if it had snowed and layed and she was having to snuffle through the snow for it. She was "half starved" the week before last (on poorer grass with her muzzle off for a few hours a day) and this week she has been on the good grass with the muzzle, and there's no difference at all so far. Am I being impatient? How long should I expect it to be before I see the first few kgs come off?
