I was invited to make an offer for my loan pony. I duly did so yesterday morning...nice offer, slightly more than his market value...have not heard back yet.

How long do I leave it before saying 'so...what's the situation'?

Did you make the offer in person? They may not have received it yet if you sent it by email/text/letter. It has only been a short while, some people are very slow at coming to a decision, I'd give them over the weekend and ask if they had considered your offer some time next week.
