Just out of interest how may bucks can you stay on before you either fall off or control the minx???

My mare was a nightmare this morning, we were doing trot poles to a cross pole and her head went down and I managed to stay on for 5 then got her head up luckly!

What about you?

You lucky things!

Abbybabby I reckon on my previous horse, I could sit about four and then he'd stop, I wasn't sure by then whether I had got his head up and stopped him or he had finished anyway! He had me off once, I reckon that was 5 or 6

Depends how strong the bucks I suppose! My friend's horse (who I rode in the quadrille, far right in my sig pic) can buck once and any rider is somersaulting through the air!

Only time my horse bucked me off it only took one. He took a dislike to something and I was expecting him to spin round as usual but he bucked instead and put me straight on the floor. It was right in front of the guy we get our hay from and he's never let me forget it!

Lady did 10 once before I managed to make her move forwards sensibly. She was being nappy and didn't want to canter in a certain direction

Doesn't matter how much you ride forward and not let her put her head between her knees she still manages it although she really bucks these days. When I first had her she'd leap then buck almost vertical or corkscrew but I only ever came off once

Fudge has never bucked with me, most other people he's played up with manage three bucks as he will spin and drop his shoulder to get them off if he really dislikes someone.

lots!

lol i got a pony to ride for someone when i was 11, and the first time i tried it the little bugger trotted 3 strides and bucked - i remember being on the ground! since then i have learnt to sit to a buck as most of my ponies have had good fun bucking!
then i had to ride my friends pony whilst she was recovering ( the pony had bucked her off on the road and she had to get staples in her head) and he was a bronco - i took him xc and he bucked the whole way around it. he also started to buck on the spot and after a jump, and i learnt to stay on because i had to make the pony better for my friend!

then i got my horse, who i bought because of his buck - i have NEVER seen a horse's back legs go so vertical in all my life

so when i rode him for the first time, he started bucking at the corner and didnt stop all the way around the arena - i felt it was quite a long way to fall!! that buck was purely to try me out and to get me off! :P
then after that he has bucked maybe twice, and i am usually pleased when he bucks as it means hes having fun and enjoying himself

the one that finally broke me planted and started bucking, I moved him forward, he cantered off then as I slowed him he planted again, I had a very nervous rider with me so could just keep pushing him forward (little did I know she got off when mine started bucking) Anyway, another four bucks and I pushed him forward again, another canter off and planted again. Two more bucks and seemed to steady, so i grabbed the opportunity to get my feet out of the stirrups and jump off, as I was in mid air he bucked again, and then pulled away - muggins here still had hold of the reins, i turned in mid air and landed on my hip instead of on my feet as planned.
THEN he kicked me on the ground until i let the reins go....

So, to answer your question, i sat out about 10, and could have stayed on for more, and these weren't little bucks, he was nicknamed the rodeo pony after that incident. Sadly my hip was broken and I never rode him again...

I had a 4 yo warmblood once who bucked like a bronc ie back legs wrapped round ears. I could stay on for about 5 or 6, but I'd get shaken loose after that cos he was quite big & I'm quite small, so I couldn't get my leg wrapped around him properly.

I've only ever fallen off one buck in the last decade

I was 9, standing on my pony pretending to be a cossack.

Before I was 6, I fell off bucks every time, but never since.

I've sat to a bronco session from Ty and when I did fall off I landed on my feet! The people hacking out with me actually gave me a round of appaulse!

Now a straight up rear is another story.....can't sit to them for toffee - tend to let go and sail out the back door....!

Never fallen off Daisy despite her best efforts. a decade of RS ponies gave me a very sticky bum

I'm queen of the "oooh, well sat" comments

Best I saw was at pony club one time. A bar steward of a pony bronced across the arena and the kid stayed on, it then stopped and put its head down to eat grass and she rolled off.
