I ride about 5 times a week which suits both me and my horse. I always like to give them at least one day off a week just so they can chill in the field.

I think it depends on the individual horse and their situation how much they need to work. My two probably do 5 days a week but if they don't work that much i'm not too concerned.

I ride mine 6 days a week, i love schooling and I have to be tough on my self to hack a couple of days and also give her a day off so she gets 4 hard schooling sessions only! It depends what you want to do with your horse if i only rode mine 2 times a week she would be fine with that but we would not be able to progress in dressage or jumping as we are currently building muscle and topline

Ride 3-4 times a week and do something else (lunging / long-reining / groundwork) 1-2 times. The riding usually includes 1 or 2 hacks (fairly slow but with lots of steep hills) and a lesson. Plus my instructress schools him for me about once a fortnight, which is definately the hardest work he does.

I'm a happy hacker though, I don't jump or compete. If I was planning on going on a fun ride or something I'd need to be more strict with myself in the weeks leading up to it.
