How many different bits have you got for your horse?

Double jointed snaffle for dressage (try and use it to jump in the school if he's in a good mood)
Jointed rugby pelham for everything else
Getting him a cheltenham gag to hunt and xc as it's the only thing that gets his attention when he decides he's off!

Fulmer snaffles in various sizes, a show Pelham and a couple of In-Hand bits.

Then I have my collection that I use for Pony Club exams. I have lots of different bits including some really old hand made bits.

JP hanging check french link for dressage
NS beval for everything else
NS pelham for showing but don't do that anymore now

We have a Pelham with double reins for showing and everyday schooling/hacking.
A hanging cheek snaffle for dressage only!
And a Cheltenham gag for jumping or any other fast work or for days when I feel I need more control!

For my thoroughbred just a smiple french link snaffle but he can be strong when galloping in fields but not sure what else to have him in. I did try a 3 ring continental on second ring and 3rd with double reins to try and see if i could have better brakes but he hated it, so ended up hunting in a snaffle and he was an angel. :)

Why dont you use a Dr bristol its same as the french link but the middle bar is angeled slightly maybe thatl help and its not to harsh.

schooling etc-loose ring french link snaffle
dutch gag first ring-hacking
dutch gag second ring-jumping/fast work

however am looking into trying out a cheltenham gag as supposedly good for the type of horse mine is

Three:
Loose ring straight bar happy mouth. Too big so I use it for in-hand walkies only.
Loose ring with lozenge - too small, was what she came with and she's always fussed too much in it.
Loose ring single joint - best she's gone in. It fits, for one thing!

Guess what - I ride bitless :p

I'd like to try her in a hanging cheek with a central revolver... might help stop her leaning on one side, and the steering issues...

1 - loose ring french link. Used to struggle a bit hunting and XC but he seems to have chilled slightly in his old age. :)

I have a load of bits I have gathered over the years but both my horses only use two bits & both use the same, only slightly different sizes. There is a french link snaffle for flatwork & both are in a Waterford for jumping. They seem happy in these bits & they perform well in them. :)

We have a big enough collection to put together a quiz for the riding club :D I do only use two on the Appy though, both mylers, one the comfort snaffle, used with a drop noseband for dressage and a myler pelham for just about everything else.
