.. pretty much as the title says.

I was thinking about doing 2 prelim classes and 1 novice class is this exceptable or too much?

I think it really depends on the horse, with buster his first test is always his best one so i ususally only do one on him. With another one of mine he is super consistent and you could do as many as you like and they would all be good where as some i do 2 as the first one helps settle them for the 2nd test!

I usually do one or two.

Tbh I think 3 tests is quite a lot, although I have done this in the past with an event horse just to bore him into submission!

Although 3 tests is not a lot physically, especially at prelim / novice level when you could use the first test as part of your werm up, I think it is quite alot mentally both for the horse and rider and you might get a better result by concentrating on just two.

I have in the past done 3 in one day but would say it is more an exception than the norm. I think that it largely depends on just how fit the horse is. Some might benifit from doing 3 tests in a day but most would find it mentally as well as physically tiring. Remember its not just 3 tests, unless your times are close its also 3 warm ups

I think it really depends on the horse. With my boy we do a two day competition once a month and do 5 tests over the two days, normally 4 elementaries and 1 DTM.

Saying that my boy is very fit and is pretty established at that level so isn't overly taxed by it. Plus he doesn't need a very long warm up so even when we do three classes he is only ridden for a total of 1 hour 20 minutes at most.

It's not something I would do every week with him though.

I would normally only do one, mainly because trying to remember many more would really confuse me!

Sometimes I do two, three would be fine as long as you have a good memory.

Not aff but when sister and I shared a horse we'd do a total of 4 tests in a day.

Warm up time got shorter with each test and she was eventing fit so really didn't have a problem.

3 is perfectly acceptable.

Boss has had to do 4 in the past, only because he was so foul in the first 2!!

Thanks every one, i guess it is down to the individual i will enter the 3 classes and see how we go. we can all ways with draw if need be.
