I have just bought a yearling colt and was wondering how many others on here have them, I will use my boy primarily for driving I think, might keep him entire but undecided for now.

I don't own one but always admire them from a far, they are one of my favourite breeds to paint as so striking and handsome

Ooohh you are lucky, could you post any pics of your new boy?

You will have to show us some pics. I don't own a friesian but i have always thought they were one of the most beautiful breeds in the world, they are just so beautifully put together, i also love the smaller versions, like dales, more my height

Hello

We have had our Friesian for over 3 years now... he is used for XC, Dressage and showjumping although he is still immature...

He was imported from Germany and gelded before we got him - he now stands at 16hh and is 5 years old...

His sire is Maiko 373 and Dam Manuleke

He is stunning and we always get comments when we are out and about..

I have a Maiko 373 son! My boys grandsire on his dams side is Goffert 369, so I have tremendous dressage breeding in his lineage. I am also in Kent. Where abouts are you? Please email me at susie4469@yahoo.co.uk, I have organised a Friesian clinic for FHAGBI members with Tanya Larrigan, and will be arranging other events if you are interested. Always keen to meet new Friesian owners.

My Friesian gelding sire is Feitse and his dam is Gemma H. He is an import from Holland. He is ride and drive, although i have not driven him as yet.
Hes the most beautiful horse to look at and he moves out of this world (well i think so anyway). I am pleased to see that local shows to where i live this year seem to have Foreign breed in hand classes so i plan to take him to some and see how we get on!

My boy is half Friesian, so I half count... :-) :-) Interesting what trait's he has inherited and one's he hasn't!

Tell me if I am incorrect/wrong, but I was lead to believe that cross breeding Friesians was a serious NO NO and frowned upon???
I think I read it on the FPS website.

I have absolutely no idea, not something I've ever looked into, but nor can I remember seeing anything. I certainly wasn't responsible for breeding him. I guess it's the same as every other breed - alot of people would prefer to keep it pure, and others see the benefit into crossing - each has their own viable reasons for their opinion. Personally some days I suspect he was bred from the bovine variety of Friesian rather than the equine. His dam was a stunner however....
