How many horse do you have on what acreage of field?

At one yard two ponies on 2 acres. Shetland and welsh b. Next yard along woman has 7 ponies on 1 acre, absolute outrage. No grazing, mud pit.

I have a 14.1 cob and a dartmoor hill pony.
On about 3 or 4 acres, way too much for them in the summer but enough in the winter. Its about a quarter of it (around the shelter and the most sheltered part of the field on the flat) that gets boggy.

2 horses and 2 ponies on 4 acres
summer; is perfect for 24/7 as all good doers and i dont want lush grass, theres enough and its not poached or muddy
winter; I close 1 as it can get waterlogged in this extreme rain. leave the other 3 open (1 acre each) for free access to all 3 acres, 2 of these are great, but the top one is wet and more cut up and edges have lost grass. however I prefer to leave this one poor so I can reduce their grass intake in summer if I have to. However they come in at night in winter (in really bad rain for days I reduce it a little more to a half day out if I can). land has coped really well and I've only just (january time) needed to put hay out in the day.

2 on 5 acres. Fields are divided between winter and summer grazing and subdivided on each side so that there is always something fresh to go at.

15 on 35 acres. 3 fields which they can freely roam between.

Ground is muddy in two gateways (one is a natural spring area) and the lake is wet to walk round, but not muddy. The vast majority of it is dry.

We currently have 3 horses on 8 acres - 4 acres hill grazing for winter, with 3 acres of flatter and more fertile paddocks for the summer.

The other 1 acre is kept spare as an overflow if we run out of grass. If not grazed, my nieghbour pops a few sheep on it to keep it tidy.

I have 3 on 6 acres split into 4 fields. They are strip grazed in summer and the other 3 fields left to grow and then they gradually get let onto more space through winter until at the end of Jan they had access to the whole lot. It works well to give them it all over winter then in March/April I start to close off the fields again and rotate as needed.
My fields have stayed relatively dry with only the gateways getting poached and I haven't had to feed much hay as I had standing hay in the fields.

2 (16.1 & the other is 33ins) are in just over an half acre but are in at night for 12/14 hours, paddock now drying & looking better & there are pickings of grass there, tho are moving on into another winter daytime paddock this weekend if weather holds up for dryness.

1 other also in half acre winter paddock with large field shelter & on good hay, not a lot of grass but well drained (on sand). Also poss to have additional paddock opened this weekend if dry.

Edited to add: total of 4.5 acres for 2 big horses & 1 mini-terrorist, all have stables & field shelters for use too.

2 (14.2hh NF & 15hh HW cob) on 2.5 acres (0.75 & 1.75 paddocks). Stabled overnight in the worst of the winter & in for a few hrs a day for rest of the year. Fields very well drained and still green thankfully.

I think an awful lot of people vastly over estimate the size of their fields. This tool is amazing for finding out the exact size :D

Largest paddock 10ish acres with 10ish mares and foals on there.

Currently, other paddocks in use have pairs in.

Sizes are: 2 acre. 0.6 acre. 0.25 acre. 5 acre.

No rain here, just snow and ice.
Even when it does rain the fields just flood and then they drain again, the joys of sandy soil :D unless it gets cold, in which case the water freezes.

It's interesting seeing how well people are fairing in this weather with their fields! We have 5 ponies (10hh, 2 x 13hh, 14.1hh and a 15hh but all are native and can get fat VERY quickly)on 7 acres but out 24/7 we have one part that's very badly hit but rest not too bad. Currently resting about 2 acres at the moment.

2 horses on 5 acres, winter field totally trashed, we had to section off part of the summer field and close the winter field, the winter field would have survived if my 15 3 lad wasn't such a lunatic, it doesn't help that we have underground springs running through the land.
we are planning on making a hardcore path to the barn for next winter, saves worrying about them ploughing through knee deep mud.
Hey ho the joys of horses

Great tool, we were sold the field as 5.04 acres and I got it as 4.98 - near as damn it! And our little rented field is 2.03 and we'd guessed it as about 2 acres so quite pleased. Having now measured the boys paddock, the four of them are on 3.1 acres of sloping, normally well draining land. They live out, and have ad lib round bale haylage, and access to a barn for shelter (and high hedges). Field is madly churned up, but that's because three of them are under four years old - OH calls them 'teenage boys'. That leaves me another three acres for spring/summer, and by then I will have far too much grass - although they're all fat now.

4 ponies on a winter field of 2.5 acres - but we do have a large hardstanding area with a field shelter for when its really wet, plus stables. we have another 2 acres summer grazing which we dont really need as they are all good doers.

3 horses (a 14.3 cob, 15hh welsh D and a 16.2 ISHx youngster) on about 9 acres. The back field is a bit squishy underfoot but plenty of grazing, the middle field is waterlogged but not terrible, and the front paddock has been nicknamed "The Somme" as they hang about in the front at teatime waiting for their feed and have trashed it. One of the gateways is a complete nightmare too. Its awful, clay soil so it's really holding, I can't wait for it to dry up! Only a few months and it will be back to being like concrete again

2 - 1x 16.2 and 1x11.2 on 2 acres. Split into 4/5 smaller areas and they are currently on approx 2/3 acre but have 24/7 access to stables and lots of hay. Lots of mud near stables (going to get road planings down ready for next year when it dries) but the field is in great condition considering. Good, decently draining sandy soil and grass already coming through on other rested fields :-)

3 on 2 acres 24/7, only have bit of mud round the gateway and top fenceline but that's only from the 'fencewalker pony' have only just starting haying the field but only once a day. Had so much grass last yr it was unbelievable and it's lasted really well, there are still pickings out there for them and they are grazing whenever i go up when it isn't a feed time i.e. first light and last light they are waiting for me but any other time they are munching down the field.

Usually this time of year i am haying twice a day every day plus feeding but they are porkers still so don't need it! Quite pleased how it's held up this yr to be honest, looking back on photos from 2010 the field was trashed pretty much an acre out from the fenceline.

I have 26acres. The 3 horses are kept on approx 2.5 acres rotated to another 2.5 seasonally.
Because I could cherry pick the field, the ground is excellent with little mud. However each and every livery I've been to recently the ground has really suffered. When will this rain let up?
