Following on from the "are your horses happy on a big/small yard" thread. Just wondering what size yards you are all on. (Including those who keep their horses at home)

Would you prefer to be on a bigger or smaller yard?

16 horses 7 owners but Daisy has her own private yard away from the others because she wasn't very sociable when a gelding moved in next door. It gives me the best of both worlds, loads of company for a chat and if I want to hack out but nice and peaceful when I just want to be with her

In summer I have a maximum of 4 at home. In winter, atm, I have all mine (6) at my friends place plus she has 3 of her own and there are another 2 liveries with 5 between them. One livery has a seperate yard and my friend, me and one other share the other yard. They all live out 24/7 365 a yr so are rarely on the yard unless we are riding...also quite rare

There are about 40-50 horses on our yard (doesnt seem like that many until you count them). I love it, loads of people to chat to, always someone to hack with and ask for advice. YO keeps all the kids in order and its a lovely friendly yard

Believe it or not I sometimes go down and there is no one else there!

About 90 (plus some others out at grass elsewhere) I enjoy always having company.
We had about 12 adults having an xmas fun day today and that was a great laugh

have 2 on mine at the moment!! Kept at home! The only thing i would like to change is to have more people to talk to and to hack out with as it gets very boring on my own, but horses are fine with it being small, and Hemir's not fased when we take him to the riding stables and he goes into a stable with loads of other horses...

We have twelve horses, and eight owners. Quite cosy, and just enough horses/people, I think. I have been on bigger yards, and I prefer the community feeling on a smaller one. Even though we do have ups and downs!

About 40. Hate it.

Moving soon though to a yard of about 15. IMO this is a good number, not too few so there is noone there but not too many so your fighting for the school!

I have two on my yard and keep them at my mums a mile away from my house. No rules and regulations and no rent to pay! Just wish i had a school but i can hack or box to a school.

there's about 26 horses on my yard, so fairly big but kinda cosy at the same time. i used to be at a yard with about 100 horses, and it was a riding school too, so it was rubbish, so this yard feels small to me!

on my yard there are 19 horses/ponies

and we only have 10 stables and a communal pony barn!

4 horses live out permanently, 5 ponies live in the barn and the rest have a stable each except eddie who has 2 stables in her corral

oh and i forgot to add, we have 13 owners, 6 loaners and all the lesson children on saturdays.

saturday and sunday are the busiest days, although during the week (especially fridays) are busy, tuesday seems to be the least busy day.

There's 21 on the yard atm and 7 owners (each with one horse each) the rest are RS horses/ponies quite nice really everyone gets on well and there's always something going on. There's also always someone to ask for advice the YO and instructer (BHSI) are both v.experienced and friendly
