How many horses are there on your yard?

I much prefer small, quiet yards. However, there are 50 liveries where i am now, and tbh i hate it! The only reason we're still up there is because of the indoor school with a selection of fillers, walls etc. and immediate access to the woods (so you don't have to use any roads!)

4 horses,4 owners.
YM is an evil edna

Other 2 and Moi are lovely, fun peeps

It'd be nice to have a couple more, as long as they're nice

There are currently 30 horses on the yard which is split between 3 seperate yards and 5 out on full time grazing. A very social yard with the odd grumble but no nastiness or bitching, we are all very social

We have 25 horses between 14 owners. Yard is full. I think it's a nice number and the yard is lovely. The YM is very selective with who is on the yard and everyone gets on very well and we are a very sociable bunch!! Theres no bitchiness/nastyness/stealing etc. I think i'm v lucky!

about 46 I think

5 full liveries
14 DIY liveries
10 Working liveries
3 YO's wife's horses
14 buy and sell horses - some riding school, some not.

Its a good size I think because there is usually people around to chat to but you do sometimes get the yard to yourself as well.

currently one biggie and 2 miniatures, one just sold, and my other one is loaned to MFH of local hunt so tad empty!!! Have done own place and livery yard locally which was lovely, only thing that really made a difference was I can do what i like with what field really, oh and of course price!!

too many!!! Ive had the experience of being on a small yard for years which i loved as it was like a home to me, their was only up to 4 horses and only a couple of people there, used to have fab hacks etc on private woodland but now i'm on a large yard (over 15 horses and going up by the month soon!) it has it ups and downs,i like going out with others on my youngster,i love having my friend whos helping me with my mare on the yard,i pay her to ride, feed etc when i can't so thats handy,my mare seems to like it a lot and has bonded well with the others in her field (shes happy i'm happy) the downsides are some people on the yard are quite good at coming down and leaving everything in a s*it tip! I'm always sweeping the yard and feed room as one certain lady is always getting more feed on the floor than in the buckets! most of the time i'm very happy about the whole set up but with lots of different characters there (owners) it can get quite heated when two people are in bad moods and opinions clash! My mare thrives best on a busy yard as she's easily bored and the manage is fab so for now we are very happy. I do miss my old yard though sometimes but it hasn't got any horses there now and the lady now has pigs on her land so it's not as pretty as it used to be! still v.much miss the hacking as thats the only thing the yard i'm at now hasn't got much of,lots of roadwork but it's not as bad as some, can't get a perfect yard though as you all know!!

I think there are between 15 and 20.

Some are the YO/Stud Manager's horses, a couple belong to staff, 2 stallions at stud (mine and YO's) and a handful of liveries (all on full livery/schooling livery).

More in the summer cos of all the visiting mares, of course.

Oh, and the YO's daughter's shetland pony.

Very quiet, peaceful yard - enough going on so my boy doesn't get too bored, but never noisy or stressful. Very well managed, 5-star care and no 'politics' or squabbles - all very friendly, staff always cheerful, never heard a single cross word in the year we have been there.

I don't think it's about size or numbers but about how a yard is run. YO/SM is a BHSI, trains pupils for BHS exams, so it's friendly but all v professional and efficient.
