i own 3, and im in a cheap yard, however ive been viewing new yards as im not aloud to ride in my fields, and with a younster im wanting to do things with her after xmas, but looking at the prices 2 house 3 is exstortionate, also trying to find anyone who will take 3 is provin a tad hard.any solutions.

I own 6, but am very lucky and have them all at home - couldn't afford DIY livery for this lot. I used to have 3 on DIY which cost me £70 per week just for stable and grazing. Have you thought about renting a small yard of your own, perhaps with a couple of friends? It might work out a lot cheaper and you could also do pretty much what you liked.

owch!

thanx, i think thats my best option , i have to many restictions at the mo with my present yard, also the yo wont let my hubby fly his bird of prey, and as u no we have to keep hubby sweet ..

we had 7 at one point on livery, huge bills! we decided to keep the good doers and sell the rest. just got to re home the shettie and sell my yearling now!

we will just have the cob, my SJ pony and her foal then.

Currently 5 - including the donkeys, Luckily we own our own land outright

I own one and have the other on life long loan. Both are kept at stables and have full turnout too. A diy set up really but very reasonable.

I own one who I have on assisted DIY livery/part livery type package though hes currently out 24 7. I have 7 others that I'm employed to ride but obviously I don't cover their costs and they're kept at their owners places or livery yards.

I have two and lease two fields from local council and Southern Water. I love having my own space - I would not go back to livery if you paid me (shudders at the thought). Having your own is hard work with all the field and fence maintenance but is more than made up for by being able to do exactly what you want. The only drawback is the lack of power - mains electric lights would be nice in the winter.

7 now

(see my sig) But, fingers crossed and nothing goes wrong, Dollar (the dun pony) should be going to a new home in a few weeks.

I'm very lucky that my family owns 2 farms, so keeping them is very cheap and I can see them out of my window. We're diversifying one of the farms into a livery yard which will mean I'll have fantastic facilities to use

I have 2 horses and 3 ponies...
Atm I keep 2 ponies at home (sometimes 3) and the others at a friends place. They have lots of acres and I rent ( for £50 a month!!) approx 15 acres.

Please explain! How? And why (not why would you WANT that many, but why do you HAVE so many? To breed?)

I technically own 4, but 1 is with Anakin's foal, playing foster mummy and 1 is on perm. loan. The other 2 are on DIY livery.

FIFTY-EIGHT?!!!!!

I have three at livery - just about to move yards and it's going to cost me a fortune but the facilities much better - could one or two of yours maybe go on grass livery to cut the costs down? I considered it as an option but decided to have all 3 DIY. Going to be a busy winter for me then

Full explanation....

4 stallions (2 retired and standing at stud and 2 competing)
6 retired/garden ornaments
5 ridden (not including the 2 stallions mentioned above)
14 broodmares
3 three year olds
3 two year olds
6 yearlings
17 foals (the reason for there being more foals than broodmares is a few of the mares with foals at foot are either returning to work or becoming more garden ornaments!)
