Hello,

I'm just interested to know how many horses you all have, what do you do with them and do you work full time? Are they at livery or at home?

I have 2 (about to get a 3rd temporarily) and I work full time.

I have eight of my own, plus one that I gave to a friend. All live here at home and my full time job is looking after them all (plus dogs, cats, ducks, hens and pigs!) and running our equine assisted training business.

I've got one big one in livery and 5 little ones at home. I work two 24hr shifts a week so lots of time off.

I have a mare I own 50% of but have 100% custody of on livery, currently at stud but will return to part livery
A foal on stud livery
Another one out on full loan, little involvement
A leg of an event horse with a pro, on competition livery

And recently lost my retired boy who was on grass DIY

I work full time

I have three. they are in a rented yard behind my house
I have sheep, goats and I breed chickens to show as well so plenty to do
I work full time

Going from two to three was a LOT more work than I expected despite being warned about it! and costs seem disproportionally more too, finding £50 for the farrier seems a lot easier than £75 for example and my basic vets bill this month for vaccines and a few tablets is about £200

I have two, a horse and a pony on grass livery. A nice yard with a shelter, offers assisted when I need it and hay is there for a set price which saves me time, I'm on a full time college course, part time job, learning to drive and attempting to fit in riding lessons and friends and family but I'm always strapped for time :(

2, on DIY livery. One is off work at the moment but having 2 in work is plenty for me, they are competition horses so need lots of exercise. I work full time. I found having 3 to ride every day was a bit of a stretch - manageable but needed planning and definitely no lie-ins!

I have one, kept at home and currently out 24/7 and I work 0800-1700 Monday to Friday. I have no idea how you lot have time to work full time and have more than one horse, lol!

I’ve got 4.
2 horses in full work, a retired mare (now having a nice life) and a miniature Shetland who’s a pet.
I keep them DIY. I’m all on my own, in a private arable farm about 7 minutes from my house.
I work full time, 8 - 4.30 with a 40 minute commute to work each day – in a pickup to the centre of oxford…. (Haha clear the way townies…) 
I visit my horse twice a day (more at weekend), get up at 5.40 in the morning when they're in, feed, muck out 4 stables. In this nice weather they're out so don’t get up till 6am. 15 minutes makes all the difference…
After horses have had breaky I go home, have wash, get changed, drive to work.
Finish work, go straight to horses on way home, ride my two 5/6 days a week, compete most weekends throughout April - Oct. Have a break from completion in winter and only ride at weekends when it’s not freezing/raining/snowing/blowing gales.
Oh and I’m about to reach 4 months pregnant…. Oh well, same as the above but with a baba in tow.

6 on DIY whilst working full time. I admit that this is ridiculous and am working to try and make life easier on myself without making life harder on the horses.

Anyone want a nice 3 year old?? ;)

Ive got two, one grown up one on livery - he's normally on part livery but I'm currently broken so he's on full livery at the moment and one foal who is not yet weaned but will be on young stock livery at a different place to other one once he comes home.

Grown up one is currently rehabbing from injury and had been off for a year so I had a project pony whilst he was off who was also on livery at the same place, unfortunately i fell off him an broke my ankle so he got sold sooner than planned and on the day he went I bought little foal. Almost bought another foal last week as my grown up boys half sister was born but breeder has decided to keep her, probably a good thing as mum threatened to disinherit me if i bought another foal!

When not broken I work full time as a nurse and had been finding fitting in the daily rehab work grown up boy needs along with keeping project pony competition fit was a struggle, hopefully ill have more time and grown up pony will be ready to have a easy life by the time little foal is grown up - assuming he does come sound or ill be looking for some thing else to play with until little foal is ready.

Hello,

I'm just interested to know how many horses you all have, what do you do with them and do you work full time? Are they at livery or at home?

Down to just the 2 small ones now (so easy) one is a companion, the other is just a trail horse, I do the normal with her, trail camping, mountain trail, obstacle events, horse soccer, breed demos.

I work from home, and have them at home.

I have two mares, one on diy livery and a yearling whos going to be arriving at my diy yard in a couple of weeks. I work full time on shift work so relies on services sometimes.

I have one on DIY livery which is enough as I work full time. We happy hack and do the odd dressage test, and love going on fun rides when we can hitch a lift with someone :)

My boyfriend and I have 3 between us; 2 of mine and 1 of his.

I have a 9yo 13.2 Welsh Section C gelding. He was my first horse. I bought him as a confidence giver following a nasty experience with a mare I had on loan.
At the moment he's enjoying being turned out for the summer on 40acres with his mates. When I do ride him I usually just go for a quiet hack as he's so safe and quiet.

My other horse is a 5yo 14.3 palomino Welsh Section D. She's a little superstar in the making. I've had her a year now and so far I've just hacked out with her and popped the odd small pole in the school.
She's got a real flare for jumping and absolutely loves it so hoping to start competing her in the very near future. I also intend to start hunting her this season.

Finally my boyfriends horse is a 10yo 15.2 tb x gelding. He's done a fair bit of jumping before we had him. My boyfriend just hacks with him and I've jumped him a fair bit in the school. Again we intend to start competing and hunting him this season as we recently bought a horse lorry :D

I have 3 competition horses on full diy livery at a yard 25 mins away from home ( actually it's 5 mins from 'home' but I now mainly live with my boyfriend, 25 mins away!) and I also work full time 9-5 mon-fri. It's not easy to juggle but I wouldn't have it any other way!

I have 3 horses, one ridden, 2 retired. Own yard but not by house, no mucking out stables but poo pick twice a day every day and exercise ridden one when can. Self employed so not really full time and quite flexible, 13 min journey to field twice a day - often go straight from field to client in summer. Love doing chores round the yard but there is always something I need to do apart from daily care of horses, at the moment the arena fence needs fixing, the buildings creosoting and strimming/cutting back of overhanging branches.

I have two, both on full livery as I work full time. It is difficult keeping them both ridden (I aim to ride 5 times each per week) and sometimes my friend hacks one of them whilst I ride the other to help me out. I compete one or the other most weekends. My husband is tolerant as he's not horsey so it can be difficult at times. However, I wouldn't change it for anything. Love my ponies :)

I have 3.

One is out of full loan, the other two are currently on DIY, but will be moving onto part livery soon.

I work full time and normally go to yard once a day as they are checked other end of day for me. Yard is about 15 minutes away. The horses currently live out so I poo pick, feed them, fly spray and do any other jobs while there.

Don't do much with them at the moment, but normally hack, school and go to the odd dressage competitions. Once I move, I'll be able to spend more time with them - rather than spend an hour or two at the yard and get to see them for about 5 minutes :(

3, all on assisted DIY livery.

Going 1 to 2 is great, more economy of scale. I agree, adding a third seems to add disproportionate amounts of work! Perhaps we should get a 4th to even things out...

2 on DIY at a yard 5 minutes from home. I work full time Monday-Friday and on call most weekends.
One is a 4yr old starting work and the other is a 6yr old currently rehabbing from injury. Both are exercised about 5 times a week.

Ok I'm glad I asked as I'm certainly not the only one then!

I have a 14.2 cob x mare who I used to compete but it now in and out of work with lameness.

I've just bought a 4 yr old ex-racer 6 weeks ago and now taking on my friends eventer for a few months as she's had to leave her yard in an emergency so all 3 will be in ridden work!

I also work full time 8.30 - 5pm Monday - Friday and my horses are in DIY!

7 - all currently out on grass. They're hunters who do the odd fun ride, hunter trial etc for fitness work in the late summer/early autumn

Have just had shoes put back on 4, so they're starting their road work, 2 still on their summer hols for another couple of weeks and one 6 yr old which we've just discovered is permanently broken, so he'll sadly be going to horsey heaven soon (unless someone wants a lovely but unsound field companion!)

Don't have time to work with all those - thankfully OH does lol!

I've got 4. 3 are on DIY livery on a small yard about 8 miles from home, and one is on loan to a local riding school that specialise in Side Saddle. 2 on livery are ridden and 1 is a youngster. We both work full time Monday to Friday 9-5.

Down to 4 now; 3 horses and a mule. Used to have 60+ (I had a stud farm), never again! 2 would be ideal. Oh, and we supply horses for film, and do demonstrations of classical/historical riding. Getting a bit too old and hope to be downsizing naturally.
