how many horses do you have and a few questions?

several

hire (but after ages of me saying we need our own, OH has seen the light that we now need our own transport (hes planning on youngstock classes next year with his colt - ie now HE wants transport ;))

own land

I have 5 right now but two are foals, one is 2, so only 2 are in work and both in a livery yard.

I used to have a little horsebox but we sold it last year as we needed the money! Right now I have no transport, when we go competing I borrow the yard's trailer (though if the yard also sends some horses competing we often share the lorry).

I had 11 at the start of the year with my own yard. Yard went so most of horses were sold, now down to 4 with 2 on loan 2 on livery. Currently have an 18 tonne wagon but selling to downgrade.

Those of you without your own transport, what would you do if your horse needed to go to the vet urgently? Do you have plans in place?

We have 3 horses, my OH has a trailer (Ifor 510) that he tows.

We have our own yard.

I have 8 in total inc one shetland, two retiree TBs and a 3 yr old who has some problems and may be pts shortly, so really only 4 ridden.

I have my own yard and two trailers; a IW 511 and a Van Fautras treble. I have the use of a 2 horse lorry if I need it.

I have 2 horses and a pony. I don't have transport, so I usually hack to hunt meets/local shows etc and occasionally hire a lorry if I want to go somewhere further away. At the moment, the 2 horses are kept on Part Livery at a yard 25 minutes from where I live and the pony lives 10 minutes away at a DIY Livery yard but we are moving house so soon the pony will be living at home and we will buy another pony as a companion, and the two horses will be at home during the summer and at a livery yard during the winter.

Two and a half.

One aged PBA on DIY livery on private yard at work
One Arabian on Part Livery on a livery yard with a school
One aged family pony on DIY grass livery near Mum's.

7.5 tonne truck and hoping to do endurance with the young arab. :)

I have 2 horse....well, a horse and a quirt of a miniature shetland. I have my own transport (I For Williams double horse trailer) and they are both at full livery (excluding riding). Not through choice though I might add. If I could get a DIY livery I would be more that happy to muck out every day but it's hard to find where I am. Found 1 last year but the place was a mess. So, I figure, if i'm paing for it then they can do it.

do you have or own transport for them or not if not what do you usually do to get somewhere? the yard I'm had has two horseboxes available for transport

I have two - a 14.2hh 17 year old Irish cob mare, and a yearling Sec D filly.

I have recently bought a 3.5ton box which I am deeply proud of.

Keep them on DIY grass livery along the road.

I've got two Highlands which I keep at full (non-ridden) livery. Have a trailer and a Freelander 2 but OH keeps asking if I want to upgrade to a lorry. I do compete but not that often so I am not sure if I would get enough use of out it to make it a viable option

I have one horse, my lovely Dylan.
We don't go anywhere, happy hacking round the country estate where Dylan lives, so don't have transport.
He's at DIY livery on a yard 14 miles from my house.

Again I would just borrow the yard's car+trailer or horsebox, it did happen once that the trailer was away at a competition and I had to transport the horse to the clinic urgently as vet could not drive to me, so I borrowed both another client's trailer and the yard car! (as it'd be a bit hard to pull with a Mini!)

how many horses have you got? I have 5 ponies

do you have or own transport for them or not if not what do you usually do to get somewhere? we have a two horse lorry and a rice trailer

and do you rent a yard or livery or own your own yard? I rent a small yard and land which I share with my sister and her two horses.

I had ( :( ) two horses until August when I lost both of them :( ; but on a happy note I am getting a new little chap in a couple of weeks. :)

I am very lucky as we have 2 stables at home and a couple of small paddocks. I also have a 7.5ton lorry to transport us to competitions, but more recently - like the last few years - to the vets and back. We started off 9 years ago hiring a trailer, then we bought and Ifor Williams and finally took the plunge to buy the lorry.... I couldn't have lived without it over the last 4 years
