how many are you hiding!?

I have one known and one "on loan".....

(i own them both :D )


Ive managed to avoid field visits for almost 2 months now from family... however im not quite sure how long i can manage "its on loan" for now.....!

soo....how many horses have you hidden,, and how!?! im terrible at lying!!!
 
I have a Livery Yard, one of the 'liveries' is actually mine.:)

At last headcount I had 10 of my own, all for sale, at the right price - one day I will get around to advertising them.

I don't lie, I simply don't offer any information.
OH doesn't deal with that side of the farm anyway so is no wiser, none of his business anyway.

Noodle, why is it so bad if you do own both of them anyway? :)

We have four!
Haven't had to hide any, but me and my mum haven't been totally honest with my dad about how much two of them cost. Or how much our new boy's WOW saddle cost :/
I don't think he'd mind, it's just nicer to him that way!

If it's any consolation, my aunt impulse bought a four horse Oakley lorry with full living, and hid it in a barn. The only reason she had to fess up was because she ripped down all the power lines on the drive when she got it home....

I like this post a LOT :D I have 7, one is apparently a friends which I'm selling for her, he really is really for sale though. One loan and 4 of my own which if your maths is like mine, it would have taken a few minutes to add up that's 6 ... I have one in Wales I'm waiting to be weaned and then I get to pick her up in October.

I'm terrible for white lies and truth bending and I swear it will catch up with me in the form of karma :/

The real price of said horse is never told either ;)
 
Does anyone else worry that some of these 'How many horses do you ACTUALLY own'/'How much do you spend on the horses' threads are started by undercover OHs.... :D

I tend to knock 50% off all figures associated with my horse (unless I am talking about how high we are jumping :o)

It's my money... I just don't want to give OH a heart attack :)

i knew i wasnt alone!!! if i was allowed........id be adding another yearling conny to the herd....but i may just get killed for that!!! so will wait until next spring and give it another thought then lol!!! i have enough on with a bratty youngster "on loan!!" and my princess :D
 
My OH has reached the stage where he doesn't even listen when I tell him I've bought another.. At last count we had 13 and if the one in Ireland passes the vet this afternoon it will be 14. He does know though that I will sell most after we have produced them although we seem to have acquired 5 permanent residents that he may not have twigged to ;)
 
We've got 2, I don't have to lie to OH as he's horsey as well, I'd never tell my dad the true cost of things for the nags as I think he hoped horses would be a phase that I'd grow out of! :D
 
^^ haha mine said that yesterday! which is why i darent tell him the latest is only two and a permanent resident! :D


i pay for them so i dont see the issue tbh.... any questions i will just make it clear that i could have horses or have 6 kids/on drugs etc etc... there are worse things than equines!! :D
 
Just the one - and I really, really wouldn't want more than that at the moment.

I am not sure how people on a predominantly DIY livery yard and work full time, manage any more?!
 
OMG, this thread is making me feel normal! I have 3 atm... one was on loan for 2 years & came back this week, & I've been wavering over whether 3 was too many (they live at home).

8... 7... 14...!! 3 sound completely sane by comaprison, & one of mine only counts as 1/2 really cos she's a 39 year old pony mare that I've had since she was 3...

H'mm... **wanders off wondering whether there's room for another one...**

Haha I love this thread...I have two at the moment but just about to purchase another pony. OH says I have to get rid of our old mare if we get another one. What do I do??!!

Have told him "am looking for a home for her..." -just takes a while doesn't it ;)
 
My dad thinks I have 3 ponies.

I actually have 6!

One is hidden in Hertfordshire with a friend, I told him I'd sold her...I haven't.

Another is actually at home, he was just lent to me but now he's been given to me...I haven't told him that yet.

And lastly, my mum and I jointly own a gorgeous chestnut TB mare who is living at a friend's yard. We managed to keep her existence a total secret until yesterday, someone who didn't know she was a secret let it slip, but we managed to bluff our way though and he still doesn't know she is ours, just thinks we helped find her.

I must stop collecting ponies!!!!
 
i have 2................11 yr old daughter has 3 but we do have one of those up for sale, just not pushing too hard to sell him;) 4 is a comfortable number, luckily the 5th one is only 12hh so if i don't actually get round to selling him I'm hoping OH won't really notice:D
I have never hidden any from OH but i have certainly been devious in acquiring a couple of them:o
 
I have 3 but seeing as they are in our back garden, I am unlikely to hide that fact from my dad! He is ok with us having 3 but says no more. Otherwise I would have 4 ;)
 
Four, although I keep being nagged to sell the gelding as my Dad doesn't like him (horses are kept in my parent's field), luckily he really likes the grey, so I told him that the grey would be sad if the gelding went. It worked and he hasn't bought the subject up for a while. :D
 
It gets bad when you have to count them up in your head...

Got 9 at the moment. 8 at home, all bar one for sale and one, also for sale, living at friends.

In fact a new one arrived last night, bought from neighbours and OH, who thinks it IS the neighbours, helped put him in the field......he just thinks I am helping out with grazing. He seems to have fallen for that one on four other occasions recently.......

The funniest part was when he phoned the neighbour to say we were putting nag into our field to get better grazing, hope they didn't mind......needless to say, neighbour knows the plan and just said "oh, thank you very much, your a star"
