I got a bit caught out with one of my 'loan' ponies as she turned out to be in foal ... I'd forgotten I'd actually said it was on loan until it was pointed out that she could be returned then
I have 3 (one out on loan) but consdiering getting a cob to go hunting and fun ride with my children as WB is a bit big to be getting on and off if children were to take a tumble- but will explain it away that Mum bought it and I look after it for rides.
There are some great ones on here but the Oakley lady blows everyone else out of the water- AMAZING!!!!
This time last year I agreed to sell my competition horse as I was going away to uni and didn't have the time for a highly strung, riggy 17.2 ISH. Anyway my non horsey (but incredibly overbearing!!) mother decided that I was through with horses (she doesn't pay a penny towards them) and that I was to not get anymore. This all happened over the summer holidays and my parents were away in Spain for 5 weeks (they go there 3 times a year!), so I sold my competition horse.
...And then went and bought a pretty much unbroken youngster
At the time I was 17
Mother had no idea, I just kept playing it down. Needless to say when they got home they cottoned on pretty fast, however my argument was "Oh well he's here now, not much to do about it!"
Also I played the neglect card, he was in pretty rough shape when I got him and is scared of everything so I really emphasised his 'sad' past!
Mother was not impressed!
Still, I'm 19 now and I still have him (and plan to have him for many more years to come!)
I have 3 one yearling fell pony one mini shetland and another shetland who is out on loan and now for sale. Lookin to buy another though I have grounded myself and I am not aloud more then 3 at a time . OH says if I want a new one I have to sell one :-( suppose he does all the dIy jobs Haha !
One each for me & daughter. When I bought daughters she had a loan pony & the one I bought was a £10 sympathy buy yearling never intended for her. She was an impulse buy, I was living with current boyfriend at the time. I rang him as it was eve basically saying 'just bought a pony cos its the saddest thing I've seen, won't be home till late'. Only prob was later when I explained the state the pony was in, he wanted to go round with his mates & 'explain' to previous owner why its not on to treat animals badly.
