How many horses do you have?

oh god i have 5 of my own

Barney - hackney x competed up to Newcomers and was my first horse

Sara - BWP competed up to 1.20 and had 2 foals

Gadget - 6yo KWPN gelding currently competing BN and Novice BD - who is very opinionated but talented

Sox - 2yo by sara ID sports horse being broken next year

Phoenix - foal by Sara x Balou du rouet

then shared with my friend

Tilly - hannovarian brood mare in foal to san remo

LJ - pony
Willow - pony

Tilly foal (unborn) !!

I have

Percy, 16.2hh lovely pre novice eventer, 9yo very safe allrounder, is sadly for sale, as am running out of time and money!

Amber 4yo homebred, 16.2hh coming on really well, hoping to event her next year.

Georgie 16yo mother to above, currently out on loan, but coming back soon!

Dave 12.1hh welsh partbred rising 4 really cute, part broken, he will be for sale next year, when we have done some work on him.

Whisper 12.2hh on loan for my son, either wonderfull or really evil to ride!

Three of them, all idle, ungrateful, layabout money pit's. Anyone want 3 useless nags? Going cheap, very, very cheap.... (could just be that I am bitter at having to have the back lady to one today - £50 thank you very much and yes another appointment next week would be a good idea. The 2nd has lost a shoe - wouldnt mind but she only just had them on and hasnt even been ridden since they were done and the 3rd took 45 mins to catch tonight despite NOTHING horrible ever happening to him like being ridden or anything as inconvenient as that).

As the title says really, but can you tell me what you have and what you do with them please? (Am trying to justify buying the two year old I used to look after

, but am also curious)

Ummmmm ... too many!

Starting with Raj - RID stallion - covers mares during the season but is also ridden daily.
Then there are 14 mares in foal - 10 are RID, a TB, and a couple of hunter mares (so that makes 14 MORE next year!
shocked.gif
And 1 NOT in foal this time

Then there are OH's hunters, Bruno and Bronte (although Bronte is temporarily a hunter - she's RID and WILL be a brood mare.)

Gus - my RID gelding who is primarily an ornament!

Marmalade Sky (dressage), Alfie (eventer but currently out of work), Guiness (pretty but dim!) - all will PROBABLY be for sale eventually - except maybe Sky.

Then there's the Fugly One - 3 yo coloured gelding who has more problems than you want to know about;
Rambo - 2 yo ID colt - potential stallion;
Prince and Jazz - 1 year old ID colts - potential stallions;
Dawn - RID filly - brood mare next year
CJ2 - 2 year old coloured gelding - for sale
Lofty - 2 year old ID x - for sale

Ripple, Tammy, Liza, Ripple - yearling sport horse fillies - for sale
Trio - ID yearling filly
Thornton - ID colt
confused.gif
possibly a future stallion - or a very nice gelding!
Trebor and Quicksilver - yearling sport horse geldings

Then there's this year's foals:
Sport horse fillies - Hussey, Judy, Joleen, and Sally
Sport horse colt - River Rising
ID colts - Stardust, Romeo, Sailor and Rhythm (Rhythm is potential stallion, rest will be gelded in the spring)
ID filly - Princess

That's about 46, FAR too many!

I just own one at the moment - Albani, a 16.1hh, 10 year old Registered Danish Warmblood by Andiamo. So far I've done a bit of showing and hunting with him (he never hunted in his life before I bought him, so when I brought him out for the first time in early November it was quite an experience...

), and I'm planning to do a good bit of Dressage Ireland with him in 2008.

Janet, SO glad someone else has more than us, it makes 27 not sound that bad
grin.gif

We have 2 Dales stallions, 3 (soon to be 4) Dales colts, 5 mares in foal for next year, 9 fillies (7 Dales, one ID filly and one Welsh D), an ID colt, and 7 geldings. Think that's all of them
crazy.gif

Personally though, I own one Dales gelding, and an 8 month old Dales filly

We can't make our minds up what stallion to use on Ginny next year - perhaps the answer should be not one at all !

I have

Zara- a 17yr old Appaloosa x who used to show jump for me,
she is wintering out on 90 acres at the moment. I will probably ride her over summer. She has just had her colt foal weaned off her-

Xavier- chestnut colt foal by Polling. Hopefully he will jump for me. Living in southport untill sping, then he will go on the 90 acres with the others (when he has been gelded and handled more)

Malayan Sun (milly) Bay TB Filly by Andes will be two in may, Will show her inhand next season. She is also out on 90 acres with Zara.

So no mucking out or riding at the moment!

Thankfully now down to 3 from 5

15.3 breeding/age unknown chestnut mare called Mo & her bay colt foal born June, by ISH.
Last years colt by Trak ex of QHxWelsh (mare now sold), he is a bay flecked with white hairs.

Mo does a bit of SJ, XC & Dressage

Oh dear, am I the only mad mother with 7 and just the one child?! Have got the following:
11.2 stroppy pony - a shetland x
12.2 spooky pony - welsh B
13.2 stressy pony - NF
14.1 super cob - Irish x cob
14.1 special pony - half AQH
14.2 half-starved pony - Connemarra rescue job
and last but not least my horse who is 15.3.

Can't bear to part with any of them, though husband will be filing for divorce soon. Just missing a few natives and I'd have a full house. All being ridden though my farrier's bill is horrendous. Fronts only for the natives now!

Everyone else seems quite sensible compared to me...

i only have one but shes as much work as 100 lol she wee and poo's like a elephant and is as strong as a double decker bus also she HuGE !!! lol but i love her soo much
shes a 15.2 irish cob mare called guinness xx

2 with another on the way!

1. Doubtful, my ex Int Event Mare (16yrs old)
2. Huey - from above mare by Masterpiece (20months old)
3. ?? - by above mare x Mill Law (5 months to go)

I'm glad JG posted before me as it makes my herd look positively small.
We have broodmares:
Orange (Catherston Orange Grove) - SHB black mare in foal to Samaii
Elf (Harmsworth Elfinesque) - Trakehner bay mare in foal to Latimer
Venezia (Holme Park Venezia) bay Trakehner mare in foal to Ringo
Dee (Dee Dee G) coloured SHB mare in foal to Showmaker
Gerty (Desert Storm) bay SHB mare
Christie (Cover Girl) grey Trakehner, is actually on breeding loan but here for life

Youngstock
Marci (Ramona) cremello Hungarian yearling filly (only counts as half as owned jointly with a friend)
Baby C (Volatis Cleio) coloured KWPN x Trak yearling filly
Casi (Volatis Casiphia) liver chestnut Trakehner filly foal
Valiant (Volatis Valiant) bay Trakehner colt foal, will be for sale
Lola (Volatis Cosmopolitan) bay West x Trak filly foal, meant to be for sale if I can bear it

Ridden horses
Dell (Broadstone Dingle Dell) brown SHB mare who has come out of broodmare retirement to be my poncy dressage pone for a year
Lanka - cremello Hungarian mare who will be backed and sold
Milo (Le Masque) bay TB gelding who will be sold next year
Persia - brown TB mare who will be sold next year

That makes 15. But Christie doesn't strictly belong to us, Elf and Venezia are jointly owned with my uncle and Marci is jointly owned with a friend, so that's really only 12 1/2 and 3 of the ridden ones will be for sale next year plus 2 of the foals, whoch brings us down to 7 1/2 until you add in the 4 foals due next year!!
Too many

zero/zilch/none/whatever lol

loan 2 tho :P

Peckham Prince; aka Rodney, bay, tb/standardbred mix, 4 yrs old, 15.2hh (and rising) he is an allrounder, but specialising mainly in XC and SJ

Indie, cob X tb, coloured, 6 yrs old, 14.2hh, is an allrounder also specialising in mainly XC & SJ. although how he will ever get anywhere i do not know, blame the owner - he has stopped jumping totally because she pulls him hard in the mouth (and he's wearing a kimblewick & curb chain) and is constantly screaming in his ear. cant wait to get him out on XC, she wouldnt canter him at his first XC so he refused everything and was reli naughty :P

still trying to get a horse of my own, but looks like ill have to stick to loaning/sharing!

** anyone in essex; southend/benfleet area have any horses preferably above 15.2hh need exercising/help with plz contact me! (PM)

i bl**dy hope not! lol sorry. she winds me (and everyone at our yard) up the wall! nobody will let her ride their horses because of the way she rides. if she was patient, calm, did her homework and wasnt so nervous she would be fine. and if she didnt tell everyone how to ride when they are clearly better riders then her.

its a shame, cause if she was as i said above, her any indie would make a great team, he's an honest horse!

(sorry i i went into a little rant, i've calmed down now)

3 and a loan who we intend to buy!

Harley, LW show cob type (in my siggy), who's 15 and I've had for 10 years, he is my 'first' horse, we have been happy hackers with a bit of showing, but he is a spooky bu88er and loses his brain at shows!

Risky, brood mare, about 18 years old, Welsh D x appaloosa, retired, nappy, turned VERY grumpy since having foal, generally a pain in the backside!

Ellie, her 6 month old foal, who we intend to keep, and to be a replacement for Harley in the end (although obviously I intend for Harl to live as long as I do, and never have to retire!)

Echo, husbands loan horse, piebald traditional cob about 15hh, he is completely bomb proof and settleing into the herd well, husband needs to ride hima lot more. He is loan with a view to buy.

It should go without saying that I couldn't afford to keep that lot at livery, due to my late and sadly missed father in laws generousity we have a field of our own. He died suddenly three days after Ellie was bown, he was so excited to see the pictures of her.

At the last count, I believe I own 23 horses at the moment; the youngest is 4 months old and the oldest is almost 23 years old.
