I have 3, 1 ridden - 6yr tb, my youngster - cob who is currently being long reined and starting her education and a welsh d colt.

How many horses do you personally own and ride yourself?

I have 3! Currently non ridden by me, because I have a broken knee :-(

There's Bert - 10hh, 17 year old Shetland who is out on loan - and is ridden

Snip, 17hh, 7 year old WBxISH who is sort of currently semi retired due to his health problems, I have given him 12 months off to recover and I'll be trying to restart him again this spring/summer.

Then there's Rhythm, my 3.5 year old, 17hh ID baby, who was being ridden lightly before my injury, and will be coming back into work when I do....he's my baggage free, straight forward one!

Also 3, my mare whos just being brought back to work after having furry foalie and a rising 5 year old WBx I bought 2 year ago with my sister whos just starting to learn the finer points of a cross country course, but this year I'm going to have to downsize as i'm finding myself stretched timewise and its not fair on them.

I personally own 19 at the moment. Youngest is 7 months old and the oldest is 34 years old. I'll have a few more soon when my broodmares will be dropping their loads in April and May.

Just the one now *sighs*

Lost my old man last year :(

But having one means all that spare cash goes on buying things i really dont need like more rugs and bridles lol. How much stuff does one horse need??!!

Another one with 3! Leo, a rising 3yo Welsh D colt (left in my sig), Jessie a 16yo Welsh x Fell mare who is currently not in work (middle in my sig), and last but by far not least Ebony, a 23yo TB in work (right in my sig) :)

Someone asked me "what are you going to do with 3 horses?"

Personally i like to have more than one to ride, i have my tb for schooling, dressage and jumping but shes not so safe hunting and hacking, i love flat work and jumping so shes perfect for me, we still hack out but mainly road work. \i am hoping to take my cob hunting eventually and be better suited to hacking. Am hoping the welsh d will make a nice future dressage prospect :)

We have 13 and a little one on the way :) Can't wait!

This Spring we have 5 which need breaking in, including our lovely Hanoverian boy (Weltmeyer lines) and a LR pony. Another needs reschooling and there are two colts which will hopefully be out in the showring in hand. I can't wait to get out riding again now that the nights are slowly getting lighter.

I have 3. A lovely 17.1 13yr old warmblood cross who is brilliant and 2 11.2 ponies. 1 pony is out on loan at moment..she taught my daughter to ride and is so sweet i couldnt sell her, will keep her forever.

1 horse Arab x Cob 6 yr Old Trixie
1 Pony Newfie rising 4 Willow (Aka Bad boy) surplus to requirement but babysitting H whilst we wean her.
1 Yearling Filly - Henna ( BOGOF) From Trix and going through an asbo phase atm or so she'd like to think.

I did read that you need 3 horses to be a herd and as such they will feel more secure and able to exhibit more natural herd behaviour. Mine are such a harmonious bunch and so happy it's lovely - shame I have to sell at least one as I have such a crap wet paddock and no stables.

4, one 3y/o 15.1 hh tb, one 7y/o 16.3hh irish sport horse (both to event) , a 10y/o 16.3hh ex.pointer-happy hacker and a 5y/o 14.2hh welsh cob- for showing, general riding and maybe eventing. Also have several on full loan as I compete them for owners.

How exciting I love having foals around - similar number 23 horses / ponies but they are working equines - well suppose to be - but looking out the window at them all munching their heads off at this moment they all look far toooo comfortable !!

Too many!

Toyah, 3yo homebred ID x TB x WB, to make 16.3hh. hope to start her this year.
Felix, 4yo Connie x cob, 15.2hh. will be backed and ridden this year, to share with friend.
Indie, 13.2hh coloured mare.
Ziggy and Lucky, 4yo homebred Welsh As. Hope to sell this year. (Sold last year but bought them back when new owner had problems!)
Pluto, 2yo Poitou x standard donkey Jack.
Mellie, naughty little mule!
Benny, another mule!

Anyone want to help me look after them? :D

But that's not all.

Also own the following but they're out on loan!

Holly, 15hh 5yo mare.
Aida, Welsh A mare on loan to friend.
Misty, Welsh A mare, dam of Ziggy, on breeding loan to her dam's breeder.

Photos can be seen in my albums.

4. my ex hunter (IDx) who is about 17yrs now. a 14yr old new forest mare who's out on loan at the moment, a 4.5yr old dartmoor gelding and a 2.5yr old cob x gelding.

I only have 8
one haflinger 16
one cross welsh 6
two dartmoor hill ponies 5
two friesians 9 months and 19 months
one warmblood 19 months
and not forgetting my fjord/haffy cross holstenier 19 months

I dont really want any more, if I was I would breed my freisian when she is old enough

just the one NF aged 8 and that is plenty enough for me for the time being - as I don't have unlimited time and money. also he likes being an "only pony" as he gets all the treats and attention, i think he would be very jealous if I got another pony, he gets cross if I say hallo to or pat his field mates.

I own and only need the one, shes perfect :D (although currently recovering)
I also ride one, started when Roo got broken and when she's fixed I will continue to ride them both :D
3 is a popular number :O

At home we have 13- 4 section B driving ponies, and 2 part breds, forming a driving trials 4 in hand team and 2 spares, a section A 2YO, section A 19YO who has a sharer and shows inhand, a 19YO shetland who is rarely ridden or driven, a younger shetland who Mum drives, a section C PB who my sister drives, and then my welsh X competition pony I'm trying to loan out and my section C rising 5YO who's just being broken :) The only mare is the younger shetland- rest all geldings!

2. I have a KWPN Gelderlander gelding, the light of my life, and a Ardennes (trait Ardennais) mare, belongs to Elizabeth but I love her too. Don't think I could cope with any more.
