Just having a nosey at Secret Santa info - its rained all day and my outside horses very kindly showed themselves so l didn’t have to go looking for them today. Surprised by the number of people with ‘share’ horses. So who has a share horse? Who owns their horse(s) and who no longer owns a horse?
Am l correct in feeling the onus of the forum has changed over the last year or so and less people keep horses at home or is it easier to pay for a ‘share’ or full livery?

A share (previously owned) but wasn't in position to purchase replacement. My horses were kept on full livery - but share and owners other kept on DIY.

3 horses kept at home on rented land. Currently investigating livery as thinking of a change but the yards all seem to have pretty regimented approaches to how to keep horses. Not sure I'll ever find a yard that treats horses as individuals so I guess they'll be at home for ever more!

Had 4 at one time, Taught at pony club at the yard, carriage drove , had a lorry. Son rode in PC Polocrosse. When he went to uni I sold the lot. No fun doing it on my own. Fortunate really, as the yard closed down few months later. Been horseless since 2018

I've got 3 of my own plus we have other family horses. Some at home and some at livery. Between us we have enough horses that we can have multiple horses living as a self contained group in each location. It works well for us.

2 of our own, (1 retired, 1 ridden) plus a friends we’re currently looking after. Live out 24-7 on rented fields totalling 4 acres. Friends is moving back to hers at Xmas and my daughter would like to get an unbacked 2/3 year old but we’ll see?

For the first time in many years I only have one horse, kept at my friends yard on DIY, 10mins from home - loving it! I don't intend to have more than one again, too much work/money as I'm getting older. I sold my two younger Connemara's who I had bought on from unbroken youngsters and kept my old connie who is 21, and has been with me for 18 years.

Currently 8 at home, though technically they really all belong to my children. Luckily for me my kids are now old enough that their current mounts are horses rather than ponies and all big enough for me to ride.
I often think I'd like one to call my own again but I really don't want to add one more to muck out!

3 at work plus 4 small doggo’s. I can’t bare being stuck inside so will keep horses till I’m 6 feet under. I also have 3 nieces and 3 nephews only 1 of them doesn’t ride so horses/ponies will be around me always

Two on DIY at a yard twenty minutes away. Both in work. My mare has EMS and the only way to keep the weight off but allow her a quality life with an acceptable amount of turnout is to ride her twice as much as your average punter rides. I feel like I have three. I got my gelding a sharer earlier this year to make life a little easier.
