Bertie - black 14.1hh gelding I bought with my own money when I was 19. He was a bit of an allrounder bu boy could he buck.

Karis - 15.2hh TBx mare. She was bay with a dorsal stripe and zebra markings on her legs. She was very mareish and could pull a mean fly buck! I kept her for 7 years and sold her when I fell pregnant.

When my daughters were about 9 and 7 we moved to the countryside and got Tom. 13.2hh pale palomino Welsh C. He was fab - a really good kids pony. He could turn his hoof to anything - he could be a bit of a grump though but there was no malice. We sold him back to the family we bought him from and they still have him - he must be about 21 now.

Prince - 11.2hh gelding - 24yrs - for my younger daughter - a real schoolmaster and had taught most of the county to ride I think. He's still on our yard (we loaned him) and he is now 28 and retired.

Scooby - 12.2hh palomino gelding. Again loaned for my younger daughter and he is the one who put her off riding! He bucked her off once too often. He's really a driving pony and wasn't all that suitable for a riding pony. A sweetie though a little nervy. He's still on our yard and although only about 9 or 10 he's pretty much retired as his elderly owner is unable to do anything with him. So he's 'managed' by the YO and YM as he has laminitis.

Trevor - 14.1hh blanket spot gelding. Lovely pony and a super hunter. We only kept him for 9 months because my duaghter really wanted to SJ and Trevor didn't. He's now in a lovely PC and hunting home.

Toby - 14.1hh bay warmblood gelding. Pony of a lifetime. We loved him soooo much. Daughter competed pony BS on him and he took her to Scope. Unfortunately she outgrew him and turned 16 and so was out of Pony classes. He's now in another SJ home and doing well. We get regular updates.

Manni - 15.2hh gelding. The sweetest most honest horse you could wish for. Maybe not so well put together but is a fantastic hunter and will go first or last. He never stops at anything out hunting and jumps ditches, hedges, walls etc. He is fab. We have had him on loand for 2.5 years.

Jay - 16.1hh (at the mo) 3yr TBxID. Just bought him in April and he's been backed now. We got him home last Saturday. Daughter will school him gently til the autumn and then he'll be turned away for the winter to grow and mature.

So, apart from the 1st 2, these are my duaghter's ponies/horses really, but I share the looking after and regualrly hack them out. I don't do jumping anymore, but enjoy a nice gallop.

i'll get my mum to post on here she's had loads of horses!

personally i had a little welsh a called nutty (can you guess why...?) that i dont really remember much of i was about 4 years old i reckon. i know he bucked people off alot though, i dont remember ever riding him. he was sold as me and my sister were little and just wanted to looked at the pretty ponies in the field. then after he was sold we both went to a riding school and begged for our own ponies for the next seven years!

2005: got Meg, 13.3 cheeky welsh shared her with my sis before she moved onto horses and then she was all mine. really hated her for about a year and a half before i got lessons and we finally got on the same page. now i'd never be without her  really taught me how to ride and done abit of everything with her. :D

ETA: this is her :D

4.

first - 12hh welsh section a
2nd - 13hh welsh section b
3rd - 13hh welsh section c
4th 16.3 standardbred.

Rode a 15.2/3 while I still had my 2nd and 3rd ponies for the owner which made the jump to horses a lot easier :)

OMG way too many to post on here! I used to own a riding school for a start off and I have ridden all my life. I will say I can remember them all as each had their own character. I have five now as have given up the school life.

1st - on loan, my first horse to myself was a 16.1hh 3 year old TB called Stan who had only been broken in 3 months  Had him for 6 months..

2nd - Poutu 4 year old off the track, 14.3hh when I bought her, was nearly 15.3hh when she was put down 3 and a half years later due to a slipped disk in her back. Had her til last September unfortunately.

3rd - Buffy, just gone 10 year old KWPN dutch Reg. Warmblood. (shes basically half TB - can anyone stop a theme, I do love my TB's!!) Shes about 16.1hh, she will be with me for life as long as I can help it!!!

My first pony was on full loan - A 12.2 welsh b x arab, she was a real character, hated other horses, we did prince phillip cup, we had two great years together before I hopelessly outgrew her and she went back to her owners.

Then I had Harri on part loan while I looked for something of my own to buy a 15.1 Welsh D, he was only 4 and we had a good year together, I took him out local DR and jumping and he started turning into a really amazing lovely horse. I ofered to buy him and the owner refused. I still wonder what he's up to now. Then eventually I found my own horse....

Jazz a 14,2 7 y/o welsh D, things were a little shakey for a while but 6 years on she's amazing. I could never sell her but have put her on full loan while I am at university.

I've got a bit bored while at uni and have now got another on part loan 2 days a week just to keep my foot in. He's a 14.1 newforest, great character, very affectionate and hacks for miles....only been loaning him a few months but am hoping it's going to be a long term thing as I think he's great!

1 - 14hh cob, had him over 4 years and he will be with me for life.
2 - 16hh ish mare, bought as a summer project, was glad to see the back of her!
3 - 15.1hh clydesdale x mare, lovely horse but had to go on loan unexpectedly and her loaners bought her.
4 - 13.1hh section C mare, came to me as a feral pony and was the reason the clydesdale went on loan. Had her for 2 1/2 years and sold her because she was a little too small for me, miss her loads.
5 - 16.1hh ex racehorse, bought recently as another project but may well end up staying as she is a total sweetheart!

1. Daisy section C chestnut mare that used to throw me off and run home.

2. Minnie TB/ID bay mare

3. Rocky 17.1hh Dutch warmblood bay gelding the love of my life he never put a foot wrong anyone could ride him a total gentleman sadly PTS age 24

4. Lilly 15hh grey anglo mare who has just given me a lovely foal called Georgie

5. Ted (Golden Whirlwind) golden dun PB arab/warmblood only with me for a short while he had sinus cancer and sadly had to be PTS at the tender age of 17 months he was beautiful, kind and very affectionate and fought hard to beat this terrible cancer.

6. Maximus Donkey, babysitter, playmate and adorable.

7. Fizzy black shetland mare who is an angel

8. Dwee A Taste of Honey 3 year old palomino section A filly who has been shown and backed to ride this spring also broken to harness one to watch of the driving circuit next year.

9. Dwee Carousel grey Section A filly who is shown

10. Last but not least my delightful 3 week old PB arab colt Georgie

We've had 19 horses between my sister and I, over 10 years. Mostly my sister's (of the list, 5 are mine!) as she grew like stink and also often outgrew ponies ability-wise (Red was the most amazing pony, but they won themselves out of anything under 3' which was getting too much for his old bones).

Only the two I currently own:
*16.2hh TB exracer
*17hh IDxWBxTB

I came from non horsey parents who were of the attitude if I want a horse I can when I can afford to pay for it myself!! Luckily my grandad was very horsey so I got into horses from a very young age, he used to hijack me and take me down the stables! Had to ride anything I could from shetlands to exracers, never turned anything down and had to work hard to get the privilege! Lol!

A lot.

I am always buying horses - and selling them.

I have 11 right now.

1. Pickles, 13.1 prince phillip cup pony, jogged everywhere and was my soul mate, I out grew him before he was ready to hang up his horseshoes and be a field ornament, he went on loan to a petite lady who I ended up giving him to, he was PTS a few years ago, must have been well over 25 by then

2. Ebony, my soul mate, I have had the hardest of times with her, but wouldn't change it, she is everything a horse should be, honest, sparky, divaish and tallented, she is a right school mistress type now, and is being the grown up for my 2 yr old ben. I mainly hack her now and plan to do one or 2 xc at the end of this season. She is 17.

3,4 & 5. Harvey, Maddie, and Connie, all darties that I rescued, they were in a right state and frightened of their own shaddow, were brought on then sold/rehomed

6. Annie. Owned by mum but cared for by me, fantastic coblet, who we couldn't keep since mum could never ride (her back deteriorated - mums back!) Broken in, enjoyed then sold to a fantastic lady who loves her still very much.

7. Shantia. Later to be nicknamed the killer! Brought in a right mess for £1, later sold with a huge disclaimer for £1, to a woman who knew all her flaws, and was happy to play with her on the ground (which she liked) and she still has her, and will till she dies (the horse, not the owner! :D) And yes, my first choice was to PTS, if I hadn't known this woman and her morals very well and been approached by her.

8. Ben, my future boy, owned for 18months, saw him as a 2 week old and fell head over heels in love, brought by my OH for christmas, he will take over when ebony slows down, properly. My first real boy in 12 years (harvey didn't count since I never rode him!) He is now 15.2 and a saint, he has completely chilled my mare out.

I have just bought my second horse. If my first hadn't died unexpectedly a few months ago, I'd still only have had one. First was the safest, most gentle cob in the world, you could have put anyone on him (and we regularly did, since he was a working livery at a riding school - he was used for very nervous and disabled clients). New girl is also a cob, but is much more foward going, much better schooled, and in all honesty, a bit more than I can really handle. I miss my easy pony.

1) Jess - 15.3 6 year old black cob type mare, very sweet very genuine 1st horse (sold)
2) Sash - 15.2 10 year old TB mare, very sweet, very highly strung, very fast (retired)
3) Coen - 16.1 5 year old Holstein, very handsome, very talented, very naughty (hopefully have forever)

1) 13.3 black welsh b x tb nutter, jumped anything bit and kicked and I loved her.

2) ID x TB roan mare bought 1995 still with me now 31 and recently retired.

3) bay NF x gelding did not mesh at all, sold on unbroken to really nice girl

4) 12hh monster and sooo cute, bought in poor state tidied up backed and sold.

5)14.2 spotted cob. Actually just looks like spotted cob, is really an undercover angel but shhhh don't tell or her cover will be blown!

6) 13.2 dark grey gelding, jumped anything, should never have been sold.

7) 15.3 Stunning arab x knabstrupper dressage bred, for sale to have a dressage career.

8) 11.2 speckled pony mare bought from slaes in sorry state, sold in much better one.

9&10) a couple of chestnut mares of varying (un)lovelyness bought to school and sold, duly schooled and sold

11&12) a couple of shetlands bought in sorry states out of (seperate) hell holes at different times, also now sold on.

13) beautiful slightly speshul ex racer bought to cover B when she was off with her breathing. Gifted to a 'friend' along with lend of saddle until she bought one when I moved house as she did not want to part with her and could not afford her. She no longer has horse, no recourse to me, no idea where it went. But despite requests she still has the saddle. You live and learn!

14?) Now help look after my sisters gorgeous mare who is on loan to Sharer and is a sweetie, if she counts

2 and 5 have homes for life no matter what I have to do to keep them.

Currently I have four ponies of my own and a loan pony plus a pony I am producing for a friend.

Mony (connie x tb) - is 31 years old now and was my first pony 28 years ago, she taught me everything including backing and schooling. She is now semi retired.

Willow (sec A) is 23+ years old and we have had him about 20 years, he was bought as a companion for Mony when I got my own land.

Star (NF) is 16 this year and is my daughters pony, she was a nightmare when we got her aged 3 years old due to a car crash but now she is a dream and my daughter has only just stopped competing her due to said daughter outgrowing her.

Kosha (shettie) was my daughters second pony, we have had him 10 years now and he was 4 when we bought him. He is now a pet and gives pony rides to my neice.

Peter (Sec D) is our loan pony, I share him with my daughter, I do the exercise and she shows him. We have only had him a month this week.

Misty is the pony we are producing as a WH pony, she is 8 years old and a welsh x fell. We haven't done any shows yet as she needs a fair bit of schooling but she has great promise.

As well as these my girls help exercise my sister two mares a 16.2hh tb and a 17hh DWB
we have had others including a 17hh pacer who went on to do dressage, a 13hh nf x who was a SJ, a veteran Welsh x arab who was my baby girl and we lost her to colic in the winter, a dun cob who was sold several years back when we lost our yard, a sec A who a friend had on long term loan off us.

Too many!

1 Snowman- 11.2hh Grey gelding, real sweet pony, owned for a good few years, then old age got to him =[

2. Little Red Rascal - 12.2hh Chestnut mare, sec A, horrible mare, stood on 2 feet more than 4, but have owned her since about 6 months old, now 40 odd I think

3. Little Star - 13.1 1/2 Bay gelding, exmoor X, my perfect pony. Owned him for 11 years in July, taught so many kids to ride, true superstar.

4. Heidi The Moose - 13.2hh Norwegien (SP?) Fjord X Connemara Palimino mare, was a sjer when she was little, right moody mare, even at her ripe age of 45!!

5. Mischief Maker - 14hh arab X sec D liver chestnut gelding. Was a proper baby, naughty little monkey, but a sweety on the ground

6. Obershade Boy - 13.2 new forest gelding, jumped like a STAG! took me round national XC at 12, but a git on the ground!

7. Beanie - 16hh TB bright bay gelding, loopy as can be, got banned from pony club for being mentle, horrible on ground too, no idea what I saw in him! lol

8. Brightspark Owen - 17.1 or 2ish skewbald gelding, saint of a horse, owned him since I was about 12, one to keep forever [= (well, along with the rest!)

9. The Domino Effect - 14hh Piebald gelding, my baby. Broke him in, and did everything with him. Sold him 3 weeks ago, and still incredibly upset =[

10. White Smoke - TB steel grey gelding, my new baby, super sweet [=

11. Kermit the Frog - mini *****ty piebald gelding, little monkey, but a sweet heart really!

12. Jack - mini *****ty dun gelding, as above really! although very timid. Both were rescued

13. Idris Ye Draigg - anglo arab bright bay gelding, fantasticly schooled, but could buck for britain!! haha

I think that might be it? Although I did ride 2 of my mums when she had them, 1 14.1 7/8ths arab skewbald gelding, and 1 16.2 TB dark bay gelding.

This is the reason I have such a vast collection of horses, apart from the odd 1 or 2, they stay with us forever [=

Am on my 4th who really is my perfect horse!

Previous 3 were mares and have all taught me so much and I loved them all but don't think I will ever buy another mare again!!

My current gelding will be with me for life! Might add a few more in the future though! :)

I've had about 40 :-(

One for every year of my life....

I only want one as I'm horseless at the moment, thanks to the recession and being jobless!

I glad that others have had lots of horses - I was convinced I was mad!

I would love to just have one horse for years, but it never seems to work out like that. :-(

1) 14 hand grey arab gelding when i was a kid. Ridiculous first pony, was strong as an ox, lively as hell, went like a rocket, jumped like a stag, often overtook the racers i used to ride out with, no brakes whatsoever. Had to be ridden daily. Only speeds out hacking were jog bounce and gallop. Well schooled. Loved a cuddle in the stable. Best horse in the world and i miss him dearly. Had him for 4 years untill i outgrew him.

2) 14.2 skewbald ISHx gelding. Hmmm. Napped, reared, bucked, bronked, lept, plunged. good jumper, jumped anything and everything. Had him for 6 months untill he shattered my confidence and had to go to someone with a lot of time and alot of patience, he had issues.

3) 16.2 TB x WB stunningly beautifull bay mare with white blaze. The most amazing horse in the world. Perfect in every way. A real schoolmistress who is doing my riding the world of good. Trust her with my life. Loves jumping, not so keen on dressage. Enjoys a good blast round a field. forward going will throw in the odd whip round at a dustbin, not a bad bone in her body. A real genuine superstar. B*tch to catch!

1- podge - 4 year old cob, hated being in the field would shimmy under the fence and let himself in the stable, was such a good boy with me i was 4 at the time and i used to sit in the field brushing his legs and he would just stand there all day, violent head shaker was made lose of use because of it, was owned by the gypsies who beat him so was very untrusting of men

2- romany 9 year old nf - little git, no manners, had been galloped around the country side all his life so knew no different, incredibly strong with any bit, i was over horsed with him he was 13.3hh i was 8 :/, show judges LOVED him he was a showey horse and made that very clear, sold to a riding school

3 - taz still got him - gangaly ugly 2 year old semi ferral 15.3hh ISH now a gorgeous 17.2hh show jumper still hasnt grown up :) but is very nice and loving :)
4- libby 12 year old 12.2hh welsh x lovely mare only had her on loan and didnt have her for very long as she was a natural pony and it was impossible to ride her in the winter as she sweated up too much but she was a sweety :)

5- honey 13 year old 12.3 welsh x arab could jump the moon but she had lost her confidence when she flipped over a xc jump, was a rearer and would go over backwards, was very loving and was very trainable :) lovely looking mare got me off quite a lot haha :)

6- ollie 16.2 orlove trotter warmblood stunning horse but very quirky had been beaten when in russia so was unsure of men, and he had had his personality beaten out of him because he wouldnt jump :( now in a very lovely home that do BE100 :)

7- missey 2 year old tb x trotter quick to kick you can be a cow nice in the field but a handful on the yard was owned but the gypsies and was taken away from her mum at 4 months old :)
