Just out of curiosity I was wondering how many horses/pony (if any) we all had. Judging by some thread posts some of you sounds as though you have a huge herd :-)! I only have 2- one section a and a cob x tb who's currently on loan whilst I'm at uni :-( So how many do you have?

I have 5 horses that belong to myself Satine 16h and her foal Solli Samsam 16h gelding Riva 16h Mare (on loan to my friend) all French Trotters Sally my evil one 16h ISH and I also have 4 rescues that I am rehoming Thunder and Rosie 16h'ish TB Pixel 13.3 BRP and Violet 11h

we are down to two now, both idxtb aged 17 & 18,have had up to four though as i have struggled to part with them as my daughter outgrew her ponies:( As we always have too much grass it's always tempting to expand again!! but i'm seriously thinking of breeding from my mare next year:) OH not too keen as he's not horsey but i can usually talk him round!!:D

Three :)

Dizzy dingbat 16.3hh DWB, that D1 is currently riding due to me being broken and due to -

Little Cob 13.3hh seven years old, he's broken at the moment and at the vets, and

Little Lad, who is retired at somewhere between fifteen and twenty-five (no-one can tell for sure) and living life very happily at grass livery with a friend.

Two and a half! lol!
Melly, my big Fell (in sig) who is somewhere around 11/13 years, and Seren my Welsh pb show pony who is 6 and 2 months pregnant (hense the half!!) xx

I have two. One's a big 16.2 Gelderlander x possibly Shire, who I rescued three years ago (he's so thankful he'd walk over a cliff if I said it was OK) and a sweet little 15h dynamo of an Irish cob who I took over in tragic circumstances a few months ago. My best friend in the world passed away suddently at 45, and I took him on. No question about it. I love my horses :)

It varies.

As of right now, this minute, of my own, on the property? Ummm...7, yes 7:o

But...I've just seen the trailer go past heading off to the stockyard to pick up a pair of mares (with colts at foot) for me.

I have two ISH broodies, 15 and 17 now, 2 3 yo's, 16.2 and 14.2, and one 4 yo for sale who I just can't seem to bring myself to advertise...must get on that...looks out window and see's lovely sane 4 yo...maybe next week..!!!!
It is way too easy to start 'collecting' them when you breed :D

ummmm hope OH does not read this we have 10 at the moment way way to many and three of them are mares in foal for next year. One is this years foal.

We have 4 of our own.
3 cobs of varying weight and a shetland.
Then on the farm we also have anywhere between 6 and 12 upwards of my aunt's herd - broodmares, youngsters, stallion and retirees to look after.
(At present we also seem to have "adopted" 7 various beasties on a neighbouring farm that were dropped off by someone and not visited for a fortnight. Someone had to rescue them from the knocked over fencing etc. So we like to keep an eye on them too.)

5 of our own & a full time retirement livery who is treated like one of our own :) We were at 8 over winter but have lost 2 recently :(
3 of the ones we have at the mo are yearling & the other 2 are my ridden horses, altho one doubles as a broodmare.
We are tentatively looking for 2 more at the mo too :s Hopefully to get some happy hackers for my parents.

I have 6 now after having my WB mare put down a few months ago :( I do want to cut done though as it's just a nightmare at times. Although I'm very lucky to have my own yard/farm it's still always thinking about them, what to do with them, farrier, worming, etc, etc. 2 are 3yos I bred and I'd like to sell one in the next 12 months. Then I have a yearling, but would like to keep her til she's at least 3 as she's out of the deceased WB and very very nice. Sometimes I would LOVE to just have the one!

I only have 1 now, I could not afford a second, she also happens to be my childhood pony/horse, had her 18yrs and still ride her now :D
We used to breed Welsh Cobs and kept a fair few over the years, we have had about 28 horses all in all I reckon, I could list them but I would be here all night, plus I am sure you do not want to know all their names, they were a fab bunch who taught me alot :D

WOW some of you really have a lot of horses, how do you do it?! !

:) I have a terribly sweet OH for a start.

:) I don't have to pay Board.

:) They are right outside my door, so no travelling.

:) We cut our own hay and reserve 500 or so more off the field - just in case, if I don't use it I don't pay for it.

:) I don't 'work', as such, so unless someone has an emergency and needs me, I have time for them.

:) Only two are ridden regularly, the others are breeding stock.

:) Everything lives out 24/7, I don't 'do' stabling unless there is a jolly good reason for it, 3' of snow for 4 months is not one of them.

:) My Boarders fees generally cover 'running' costs

and... I don't live in Britain :)

... or have a hay shortage,

... or have lots of rain for days and days on end.
