I'm sure I'm not the only one who imagines what my life would be like if I won the lottery.

One of the main things that I imagine is how many horses would I have? I currently have 2 but think I would end up having 4 if I had the time and money to do as I wish - the 2 I have now (one retired, one ridden) one more ridden for my sister to ride and a companion for my oldie for when we take the other 2 out. Actually, best make that 5 as I am sure I would sneak a pony in for my nephews.

So. The question is - how many would you have?

If I won the lottery, firstly I'd ensure my horses were secure for the rest of their lives with endowments or trusts for them. I would like to rescue some from WHW rather than buy as I no longer ride so no more need for expensive comp horses. A friend has a wonderful sec A stallion who throws gorgeous good natured foals I would buy myself one of those though.

Two to start off with- a mare and a gelding- then a foal! :D My dream :)

You might have more success if you started with a mare and a stallion :D

I would have 3 - my old retired boy, a companion for him and a lovely young colt I have seen advertised.

(Would be happy just with old boy and youngster but obviously as I would buy my own land I would need a companion too :) )

Well if I won the lottery I would start up a dressage and young horse training business so would have quite a few. At the moment I have 2 in full time work and a 3 year old. If I won the lottery I would have at least 5 in full time work :D Probably buy 3 andalusians from spain to bring on and then maybe a couple of foals.

I would buy my own yard and start up my own livery business. :) Between me and my mum, we have already got 2 horses and a little pony but I would probably buy something a big experienced hunter just so I could go out and experience the thrill of jumping the really mahoosive fences!! ;) :D

If I could have unlimited horses, i still think I would only add a few to the string. Maybe a few really nicely educated and more advanced level horses (that we could learn from), than the more basic editions we have now.

But I would not go overboard, I would have a lot more riding lessons and focus on improving, but would not really want to be overwhelmed by a plethora of horses.

I own loads of horses as part of my business and I have 3 personal horses that I've owned for years. No matter how much extra money I came into I'd still keep my 3 horses and if I ever got out of horses as a business then I'd still keep my 3. 3 is the best number of horses in my opinion :)

Well I have 3 right now - one baby, one oldie (not retired but will be by the time the little on is working) and my 5 year old. I guess I would probably end up with a sporty horse too... I might consider picking up ponies at sales and trying to give them a second chance in life (or a good death), provided I had enough not to need to make money on them.

If I had kids, god knows how many we'd end up with

I'd still keep Markie, but, in one of the monthly horse mags, there's another cob for sale who has almost identical markings. Same height, same build and the description sounds like him too. I could buy that one, then my friend and I could ride out together all matchy matchy!

I'd have my lovely old boy, a project pony (148) and a nice competition horse (SJer). ooh and I've always fancied a shetland to keep my old man company.

I'd probably have four for me to ride - a couple of Iberians, an older one and a baby, a proper dressage schoolmaster (who I'd probably keep at my instructor's yard and allow her to use him for lessons, but have as many as I could myself, too) and a solid, probably cobby or Irish type for me to jump so I can do what I always wanted to do (really tiny eventing, and hunting!)

Then I'd buy my mum something solid and saintly to attempt to fill the hole my lovely mare left this year. I'd love for my fiance to have something to sit on sholuld he ever wish to plod out with me, so hopefully it could do this, too.

I'd also buy a few to own but not ride - I'd get something for my instructor to ride (she events) that hopefully had Badminton potential. I'd have a dressager or two, and I'd also love to own a racehorse.

So all in all, roughly nine or ten  :D

If I won the lottery I think I would stick it at two horses- my lovely IDXClydesdale mare and a beautiful, big shire foal to be her friend. Then I would add a yard in the Cotwolds and a nice shiney horse box to the mix. Perfect :D

I feel very very lucky to have the 2 we've got but if money was no object then I'd get my OH a good eventing prospect and probably a more established dressage horse for myself and for my mum because she's always said if we ever got rich she'd like a donkey!

I'd still keep Markie, but, in one of the monthly horse mags, there's another cob for sale who has almost identical markings. Same height, same build and the description sounds like him too. I could buy that one, then my friend and I could ride out together all matchy matchy!

Now that is taking matchy matchy to extremes :eek::eek::eek:

Think I'd probably have one competitive dressage horse, one competitive SJ or eventing and then a youngster/ex-racer to bring on :)

If time wasn't an issue, then I would have 2 - one happy hacker (my current one) and another 1 to compete. I've had 3 at once a few years back and as much as I loved them all, it was very time consuming when you're working full time!
