As title really - just being nosey! What's a 'normal' number of pairs to have? I think I have more than I probably should and definitely more than I 'need', given that I only have two horses and only ride four or five times a week. But they do all get worn. I have some pairs I keep smart for lessons etc., and some I keep for mucking out. They last for years, too, because they don't get worn out - I'm still wearing some jodhpurs I bought as a teenager! So having several pairs = saving money in the long-run, right?

Oh well - for some women it's shoes and handbags, I suppose... :D

About 7. But that includes 2 pairs which sadly, although lovely, will probably never fit (Ebay!) but I can't bear to part with and a pair I've had for 33 years.

I have a pair which are my first ever real ones. Harry halls. The material is awful its so shiney and slippy, no wonder i came off a few times haa!

Two pair of jods.. and one extra one (my fave) with rather large holes. :(

ETA: I lie, then two pairs of show jods or canary and beige variety. ;)

5 pairs, one of which are posh ones I got for Christmas for competitions/hunts etc. and another are like tracky bottoms crossed with jods (so comfy!!!)

How many? Lots; ranging from the old, holey (getting towards crotchless) ones for really dirty jobs or when I'm unlikely to see anyone, to the ok condition ones for everyday, to the newer ones which are for lessons and clinics, to the show/comp ones which only come out a couple of times a year (if that), to the completely impractical, but v stylish ones which were a birthday present about 5 years ago which do not bend enough at the knee to ride in, so are just for horsey events that I'm spectating at!

I have a huge box of ones in the garage that I don't wear any more (must be about 20 in there haha 😂)

For daily ones (navy/black/red/beige) I have around 8 pairs

For my competing breeches (white only) I have around 10 pairs. In my defence I do a lot of competing and I've been abroad now for almost 2 months competing so having plenty of pairs of breeches makes life easier so I'm sure I won't run out

Maybe 6 or 7 pairs of everyday ones in various boring colours and in various states of repair, including my fave ones which have a dodgy zip I have to secure with a safety pin. Then a couple of beige pairs for "best", one of which came from a charity shop (but lovely breeches, good quality brand so got lucky there). Never ride in jeans.

One creamy pair for posh, one dark grey checked pair that I actually like wearing, three everyday beige pairs of different makes which all fit badly in different ways. One of these has developed a hole so are on the way out, thank God, and another pair got relegated to be my painting trousers on Wednesday as an excuse to hasten their demise.

I have around 20 pairs :-o but in my defence they're a range of sizes from 38 to 32, the number crept up as I lost weight... Now I think about it I should really eBay them!

I realised the other day i had 4 pairs of competition breeches ! 2 pairs got ebayed

I have got around 7 pairs of breeches, a few nice pairs & a couple are my faves

2 pairs of competition breeches and 3 pairs of pikeurs for everyday

I chucked about 10 pairs out recently - never wore them after I found my pikeurs!

3 pairs of competition jobs( cream). 2 pairs for clinics( black, grey). 3 pairs for normal days hacking, schooling and around the yard( blue, khaki, mauve)

Quite a few :o O still fit mine from 10 years ago so they've never been chucked. 7 every day pairs in different weights/cuts/sizes, similar in cream/beige but only one competition pair, rest are for driving grooms, smart every day or for on my show saddle so not full seat!

2 pairs of show breeches, both identical as I loved the fit. 5 pairs of breeches and no jodphurs. I'm 5ft1 and i find joddys need too ,any "rolls" at the bottom to fit me and they feel uncomfortable in my boots. Breeches are usually the perfect length

Thanks all ☺ Reading the first few replies, I was worried that maybe I did have a problem! However, some of you have reassured me that my collection is not abnormally huge after all. Follysmum in particular - thank you! :D

I have 42 pairs, jods, breeches and riding tights of all colours.

Annie - get them on eBay and then treat yourself!

With the horses every day.
15 pairs of jods and breeches for every day use.
3 pairs of white ones. One normal, one sticky seat and one full suede seat!

:o

Not been and counted them but at least 10 pairs. Some of which I've not worn for years and two pairs of denim ones that I bought when they were on special offer last year and I've not worn yet as I was waiting to wear out another pair first!

I do collect alot, especially jods, bridles, rugs and numnahs :) think there should be a helpline number for such addictions :)

I think there should be a help line set up for horse owners!!!
I'm yet to find an owner who doesn't have a massive collection of something horsey😋.
Mine have more 'clothes' (and in a better state!) than me!!!!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. Can I introduce you to my OH? He thinks I need some sort of therapy to get over my equine spending addiction.

So I don't think there should be such a helpline - I would phone (or be made to phone...!) so frequently I'd keep them in business :D I don't know what it is but I collect lovely breeches and saddlecloths... I think it is mainly because I am too lazy to have to wash horsey stuff every single day so it's ready for the next day, but there is probably part of me too which is very much 'all the gear no idea' - if horse and I look pretty, no one will spot our flaws! Oh and rugs... I just like things in nice colours in my tackroom!

5 pairs. My full seat dirt repellant HKM bargains that havent been off my legs in 5 years, a black pair, two beige pairs one showing one pull on, and my white full seat competition breeches.
