As above really. Just out of interest , wondered how many times people had had to move their horse , due to work , changes , house moves etc . I will be moving for the 5th time in 6 1/2 years and just wondered if that was excessive. Not been asked to move , I hasten to add. Just had to move due to work , horse not settling etc ..

Been at current yard for just over a year. I was at my previous yard for about 3 years before that. Before that I wasn't living in this area so the horse(s) moved each time I changed my job... 3 times in about 4 years I think. I wasn't asked to leave any of my yards and I didn't leave on bad terms, because I didn't get on with people or anything like that. Have only ever moved because I've left the area with work, apart from my last move which was because the yard was nearly 30 mins from home... I was happy enough with that when the service was good but when that deteriorated, I moved.

Oh far too many. I have done a full circle.
Yard one - only minor niggles but left on the promise of better facilities & hacking for same price.
Yard two - total nightmare, crazy management, only lasted 2 months then yard closed down.
Yard three - reasonable livery great turnout & hacking, stayed for a year until yard felt horse was too much for them to handle.
Yard four - always seen as temporary, cheap but no facilities
Yard five - went to my then instructors, it wasn't a livery yard so only two others there, didn't suit me & far less turnout than promised.
Yard one - Back where I started and will not ever be leaving again unless I move house.

I've been at 3 livery yards in 6 years, the first for 4 months (VERY unhappy place!), the second for 3 years and the current one for about 2.5 years.

However, I don't think that there is anything wrong with moving between a lot of yards. You are paying a lot of money for a service and a hobby and if you aren't happy then the sensible option is to move.

Lol 3 but technically 2 first one was excellent but left because 'better facilities' then moved back to the original one because the second ones grazing wasnt great for my tb she was loosing weight, the phrase grass isnt really greener on the other side springs to mind ;)

yard one - (actually it was just a field) 1yr then moved to have facilities to
yard two - there for around 10 years until I moved house so took horse to
yard three - was there for about 5 years until it closed down so had to go to
yard four - was there for about 2 years until I lost my old lady
yard five - where I am now with my new boy, only been here 6 months so far!

Only two - left the first yard because I was moving out of the area. Loved my old one and would never have left if I hadn't moved, but love the new one too!

With Foxy -
Yard one - stallion sent her crazy and had to cross a mad road to the school and turnout so I moved to
Yard two - complicated turnout but lovely lovely place, I would have stayed there forever if we hadn't move house to
Yard three - our own yard :D No school, but great hacking, we'll get there :p

And I've only had her 5 weeks *bad owner*

Too many.

1999-2001: Barn in CO
2001-2005: Mainly at barn in MA but moving out during each summer to various stables in CT, MA, and NY. Then moving back at start of the first term of uni.
2005-2006: Back to the same barn in CO.
2006-2007: Barn in Co. Durham.
2007-2009: Barn near Edinburgh
2009-2010: Barn 1 near Glasgow
2010-2011: Barn 2 near Glasgow
2011-present: Barn 3 in near Glasgow.

Staying at this one until I get a job that probably won't be in Glasgow, then moving again. Joy.

Three, I've had her two and a half (nearly) years. Was at yard 1 for over a year but left because it got a new owner who kept making changes meaning Ethel wasn't allowed as much turnout and loads of silly rules. Was at yard 2 for about 9 months then moved to Newmarket from Kent so had ti move her. Will probably have to move her again by November due to things going on but im hoping to find a yard with good turnout, a school, good hacking ... Not easy in Newmarket!!

yard 1 - just a stable (no turn out, walker, arena nothing), lasted 1 year.
yard 2 - stable and field (filthy place, very muddy mixture of cow **** and mud everywhere summer and winter - used to run through the stable barn) lasted 3 weeks - still is muddy 3 years later
yard 3 - competition yard (bitchy - but also didnt need all the facilities with new horse) lasted 1 year
yard 4 - stable and field (no other facilities and full livery - kept being told what I could and shouldnt do with my horse by YO - he didnt agree with me washing my horses eyes with warm water, said I should use cold - it was winter) lasted 3 months.
yard 5 - private yard - stable and 1/4 acre of a field which one the grass was gone it didnt stand a chance to grow back before being eaten (no other facilities - had to leave as racehorses went in to it) lasted 1 1/2 years.
yard 6 - private yard - 2 field shelters and field (no facilities) but really enjoy it and get on well with the YO since we decided to ignore the trouble making friends of hers - dont intend to leave

Yard 1- DIY with outdoor school and great hacking. Moved due to continuing outbreaks of strangles. YO not great at bio security so when given the all clear after 7 months I moved the next day.
Yard 2 - Outdoor/indoor school, great paddocks, cracking hacking. DIY. Lovely yard with great facilities. Horse became ill so didnt need facilities. A really sad move :o
Yard 3 - Basic stable and paddock. Cheap but with good hacking. Moved outwith area.
Yard 4 - Basic Stable and paddock with no facilities. Good hacking and only 2 liveries. Closed down.
Yard 5 - DIY stable and paddock. Great hacking. YO sold up but went downhill before he sold it. Let anybody on including dealers etc. Things started going missing. Strange horses arriving in paddock etc.

Moved to shared field - never again. Allowed myself to be taken aloan of. Left on bad terms

Yard 6 - DIY. Stable and paddock. Has indoor/outdoor school. Great hacking. Still there,

The above is between 2003 and now. :)

2004 - 2005 Yard with tiny boggy arena, winter turnout on concrete (which froze) but had great fun and learnt the ropes of pony owning - YO remains a good friend.

Moved in 2005 to somewhere with better grazing, bigger arena. Pretty poor hacking. Everyone got on reasonably (we had our share of oddballs!) horses very happy. Bonus, we moved next door! Then last year had major falling out so left the yard - still not talking with neighbours 6 months later. They have made our property unsellable but hey ho, life goes on!

Thankfully another lovely yard 2 minute drive away. Have been there since Christmas and very happy with it :)

Since owning my first horse 8 years ago I have been on 3 yards. Most of that time was spent on Yard A - a large riding school yard on full livery but 3 years ago I made the decision to move to Yard B - so I could do DIY and keep him nearer to home as its a 2 min drive from home - 9 months later I moved to Yard C - another DIY yard a mile away where my old RI ran her own yard which I thought would suit us better - that didn't last as I went back to college and was also working so I went back to Yard A on full livery but realised I missed DIY and didn't want to pay full livery prices so went back to Yard B where we are now and which suits us perfectly, is small with a lovely mix of liveries and hes happy as larry. :D

Not moving again unless
